"Why can't you just understand that this is my job!?" Andrew yelled at me, "not everything is about you!"
Andrew and I were currently having a fight, our first fight at that, and all of this because he was planning to leave for work for three months after having been home for only a week.
I had always been very proud of Andrew and his achievements, but all I wanted now was to be able to just spend some time with my boyfriend.
I curled my legs up into my chest, "I know it's your job Andrew, I would just like to spend some time with you, that's all," I said in a soft voice as I shrugged my shoulders slightly.
Andrew snorted, "when did you become so clingy?!" He exclaimed.
He shook his head, "if you really loved me like you say you do, you'd be happy for me, you wouldn't be trying to hold me back on this!"
I shook my head, my eyes stinging sharply with unshed tears, "I do love you—"
"The hell you do!"
His loud, booming voice made me whimper and curl slightly into the back of the couch.
"Andrew," I whispered, "please stop," my voice cracked.
"No!" He raised his voice even more, "I'm not just gonna stand here and let you ruin my future!" He screamed.
I whimpered once more, and when he went to run a hand through his hair I just couldn't help it; I flinched.
My whole body retracted into the back of the couch, my breathing erratic; I could feel the tears stream down my face as I put my hands over my ears.
"Stop," I pleaded, "please stop."
Andrew's pov
I stood there, completely unable to move, horrified, as I watched my girlfriend curl up into herself in fear.
"Shit," I cursed under my breath.
I slowly moved towards her, trying not to scare her more.
"Y/n darling," my heart broke when she whimpered at the sound of my voice.
Trying to fight back my own tears, I sat down on my knees on the carpet in front of her, "baby please," my voice cracked, "please look at me," I begged, "I promise I won't hit you, I swear on my life."
She slowly opened her eyes and looked down at me, "hey," I smiled sadly, "can you take your hands off your ears? I promise I won't yell anymore," I assured her.
She hesitated, but did as I asked; I went to reach for her hands, and my heart broke even more when she flinched back, "hey, hey, it's okay," I whispered, "I promise I won't hit you."
