Jade's Rescue ~ Chapter 4

Jade appeared and placed a shield around Dawn City. The nuke hit the shield and was deleted due to the shield.

"W-What the..." Mario gasped. The heroes looked up toward the sky, all panicked as Jade jumped down. She looked around for a moment before walking down the pathway.

Jade questioned, "Is everyone here around this area alright?!" The common folk nodded while everyone else stood there staring at one another. The heroes all looked at one another in confusion as one of the citizens living in the city walked over to Jade.

"What's going on, Empress Jade?!" The person questioned. Jade didn't know how to reply, so she just stood there in silence. "Empress Jade?" Jade looked around and saw the heroes comforting the other common folk. She told the citizen to wait as she walked over and took a deep breath.

Jade apologized, "I'm so deeply sorry to scare all of you! I don't want to scare you away from Dawn city in any form but I must admit that... Ruby is planning something." The heroes all brushed themselves off as Mario walked in front of them.

"Does he have a vendetta against us!?" Mario questioned as he brushed himself off. Jade looked down at herself and took a deep breath. The heroes looked at one another in confusion as Mario cleared his throat. "Is something wrong Empress Jade? Do you know the reasoning of why he is acting this way? Is it really because of a vendetta?"

Jade explained, "Indeed it is because of a vendetta... he seems like you're going to cause problems around here and decided to send out a nuke toward you all. Which is why the nuke was trying to target this specific area." She looked away from the heroes as the heroes all stared at her in shock.

"Why?! We didn't even do anything wrong!" Kirby wondered. Byleth started to think about the possibilities but right as he was going to ask a question to Jade she spotted Ruby walking by. The citizens ran over to Ruby, questioning him about what was going on.

Ruby explained, "Everyone calm down! I will get to the bottom of this situation and find out who is targeting us!" Jade looked at Ruby and walked over toward him. The heroes all watched carefully of what Jade was going to do. She grasped Ruby's arm and glared at him.

"What were you thinking?! You made the entire city in a state of panic!" Jade questioned while anger filled her voice. Ruby looked away from her for a moment and took a deep breath.

Ruby replied while whispering, "I admit I went to the extreme but maybe now the heroes will know it's not safe here and will leave!" Jade gasped and grabbed Ruby's arm even tighter.

"In fact they will not leave, and stay to help relieve the citizens! You're doing things that are going to cause them to stay and help! If you left them alone they were going to leave!" Jade explained. Anger continued to fill her voice and Ruby stared at her.

Ruby groaned, "Alright, alright... I'll leave them alone..." Jade stared at him and nodded, soon within the corner of her eye she saw Luigi walking over. The citizens soon then crowded him by trying to ask him questions. Luigi jumped due to the sudden swarm but he tried his best to remain calm.

"MAYOR LUIGI! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS!?" One of the interviewers questioned.

Luigi explained while slightly panicked, "I'm going to investigate as much of the situation as possible. As for the rest of you I advise you all to be much more careful until we find out what is happening and who is targeting the city."

"Who is targeting the city..." Hajime muttered. Byleth looked over and saw Hajime pulling up something on his communicator. Then he pulled out a chart. "There could be all sorts of people who would send an attack on us; however, my guess is going to be that it's going to be someone within the city."

Byleth replied, "Good point, most of the villains either retired or are busy dealing with things on their own time which would leave somebody attacking us within the city."

"How would they know we were gone? Wouldn't they be attacking the town instead?" Zhongli questioned.

Byleth replied while shaking his head, "Good point... gods, who is really trying to do this? Maybe the villain that's targeting us really does despise us..."

"But why would they attempt to use a nuclear weapon on us and scare all the citizens? It doesn't align with what any of the villains we fought would do..." Albedo questioned.

Byleth replied, "While this seems to not align, Jade warned us about Ruby planning something against us. That perhaps... he is the person who sent the attacks. Knowing him and how mysterious he is, it appears that's the only possibility."

"Wow, that's some quick and smart thinking there! But jeez, sending out a nuclear weapon to us is... terrifying!? Plus he scared nearly all of the citizens!" Kirby replied while watching Byleth analyze the data.

Eula sighed, "I suppose we should thank Jade for protecting us, without her help. I'm sure all of us would've been dead." The heroes nodded and looked around. However it seemed like she and Ruby were nowhere to be found.

Chrom groaned, "Of course they disappear, I'm sure Jade is busy trying to figure out the situation with Ruby. Probably scolding him in the process." The heroes giggled for a bit before turning toward all the citizens.

Sonic sighed, "They're all worried there... we better get going to check on them." The heroes all nodded as they turned to Mario as he had the final say on everything.

"Yeah Sonic is right, we should assist the citizens. It seems they need a lot of help at the moment and they appear to be disoriented with all that's going on," Mario agreed. The heroes nodded and separated themselves to help the citizens.
