Ties Unbounded By Thread ~ Chapter 62

The bus was slowly streaming down the road. The heroes were all silent, some of them were asleep. Others were scrolling on their phones. Chrom was looking out the window as rain poured down. The scenery was a nice change but simply unfitting.

"I... I don't know what to do now... I feel so lonely," Chrom whispered as he hid his face within his knees. Alear and Byleth were both asleep, which was only Chrom and his thoughts. "I... I don't know how to feel, I just... so many innocent lives lost..." Then Time appeared in the seats behind him.

Time sighed, "You haven't lost anything Chrom, you're still the powerful person you always were, do not let that get to you." Chrom looked up at her and back outside the window. "I know how much you miss them, I understand that's how you feel but you need to stay focused."

Chrom sighed, "I just want to go back home. I want this whole ordeal to be over with. I just want it to be done..." Time watched Chrom as he stared down at his body in shame. He then slowly closed his eyes, praying that everything would be okay in the end.

The bus continued strolling down the street in the quietness. Not a sound from anyone, it was calming but at what cost? The sounds of the rain clashed against the windows, the sound of the windshield wipers moving on the window clearing out the rain. It was a strange feeling indeed. Suddenly the bus stopped.

Mario sighed, "I need to give myself a moment..." He parked the bus and slammed his head against the wheel. Some of the heroes woke up due to the bus stopping but it was all the same regardless of that. Ayato and Hajime walked out of the bus and looked around.

Ayato sighed, "The rain is relatively strong but the feeling of it is so nice..." Hajime nodded as the two searched the area together. Hajime took a deep breath and felt the rain landing on his hand. "Rain is one of my favorite weather patterns, it feels like a nice change when there's rain."

Hajime nodded in agreement, "Yeah, the rain is beautiful..." The two looked around the area and proceeded to walk further off. Within a flash they saw someone speeding over at the speed of light. However, it was not Sonic at all. It was Magnus.

Ayato ordered, "OUT OF OUR SIGHTS MAGNUS!" Magnus grinned at the two and took out a specialized dagger. Ayato and Hajime took out their weapons.

"You guys probably have no idea what you're witnessing, CUE THE WORLD TREE!!!" Magnus shouted. The two looked over and noticed out of nowhere a beautiful mystical tree appeared in the distance. "Isn't it beautiful how I can make the world tree appear?! This tree is a tree written in folktales, it keeps world peace but... if you kill it..." Ayato and Hajime watched in horror as they sent a signal out to their communicators.

Byleth shouted, "MAGNUS IS ATTACKING!" The heroes bolted out of the bus within the rain. Ayato and Hajime were doing everything in their power to stop Magnus from harming The World Tree.

"OFF!!" Ayato shouted as he moved Magnus' weapon out of his hands. Magnus fell backward and tried to heal himself but Hajime shot him in the leg.

Magnus grunted while smiling, "You heroes are clever... surprised you guys are still being able to defend yourselves after losing Shez and Albedo. How... very funny." Soon the rest of the heroes dashed over and took out their weapons. "There's backup too? How cute..." Magnus took out a dagger and threw it directly at Chrom. However, within a flash he caught it.

Chrom asked, "You really believe you can take me whole? I'd beg to disagree." Magnus watched as Chrom looked at the dagger; it was specialized to send out a poison if it stabbed the person. "So you were attempting to kill me by stabbing me with the dagger? This dagger seems to be specialized to poison me if it stabbed me as well."

Magnus grunted, "How did you guess?" Magnus finally healed himself and jumped onto the top of the World Tree. He took out a dagger and smirked. "Oh well, the World Tree will die here and now and soon the whole entire world will fall into more and more insanity-" Suddenly a magic bolt was sent out. Magnus nearly fell off the tree and looked down. Chrom had a tome and shot an attack alongside Byleth.

Byleth muttered, "Don't you dare lay a FINGER ON THE TREE!!" Just like that the heroes dashed onto the world tree and got ready to fight.
