"Only I Know What's Right and Wrong" ~ Chapter 77

Chrom walked into the building and set his bag down. Lissa looked over as she was trying to comfort Lucina and Morgan down. Chrom looked down at himself and then back towards his family.

"Chrom? What are you doing?"

"I'm done, the team was too much for me and was taking a toll on my health anyways. I didn't even get enough time to grieve over Claude's death," Chrom explained. He looked at his family members and took a deep breath.

Lissa questioned, "What are you going to do next?"

"I'm starting off strong in a new era, I need to show that I am one as the Exalt of Ylisse, that those who stand in my way are people I'm not afraid to cut down," Chrom explained as he took out his gear from the closet. Then he went off to change.

Lucina asked, "Dad? What is going on?" The four watched as Chrom came out from his room in his great lord uniform. However this time he was wearing a crown. "Woah! You look so cool!"

Chrom laughed, "Thank you Lucina, today begins a new era for the kingdom of Ylisse. As the Exalt it is my sworn duty to protect everyone around me. That includes you and all the citizens of Vivin City." Chrom put his swords away and then turned toward the door.

"You got this uncle Chrom!" Owain cheered. Chrom smiled as he walked out the door. From there he noticed the citizens all laughing with one another.

Chrom sighed, "The citizens know I am trust-worthy. I need to prove to them that I am." Chrom looked around the city and saw some of the citizens having some issues. He walked up to them and was able to resolve the issues within a flash. So many people were pleased with his efforts.

All it felt like he was finally independent in himself. He no longer was going to be taken down by those who were too afraid to show their true selves but that washed away now. He was on his own and had no need to rely on anyone.

Chrom sighed, "The heroes can live without me. I know what's right and wrong. I can show to everyone that even being half induced with despair. I can show myself to be strong and reliable." From the distance he noticed the gates were opening. "No..." He quickly dashed away from the scene and went into the park. The heroes arrived back and got off the bus.

Mario sighed, "Two people died and one left us... this is going to be a hard road to walk on..." The heroes nodded as Byleth and Alear attempted to search the area. Soon Alear noticed Chrom in the park and nudged Byleth. The two sneaked away from the group and dashed to Chrom.

"CHROM!"

"I don't need you guys anymore, what else do you NEED?!" Chrom asked as he turned around. From there he saw Byleth and Alear, softening up a little. "Oh... sorry about that."

Alear sighed, "That's understandable, I know how you feel about these and we decided. We can't stay with the heroes anymore. Not after what Eula said about you." Byleth nodded in agreement as Chrom looked at them in confusion.

"Wait what did she say?"

"Something about you being a baby. Thinking that you will fall head over heels over us after we find a way to defeat Magnus because let's be honest, I highly doubt it." Chrom looked at them in disbelief as he looked down at himself. Anger filled his mind.

Chrom asked, "So that's what Eula thinks of me? Nothing more but pathetic and someone who can't fend for himself? I'll show her..." Alear and Byleth stopped Chrom as he attempted to walk away.

"Not now, I suggest no..." The heroes walked away in a different direction as Chrom took a few deep breaths to help calm himself better. The two watched as the gates suddenly began to break down.

Chrom grunted, "That little brat is back again... I'll show him not to mess with me." The two nodded as they dashed over. The three took out their weapons as Magnus broke down the gates again.

"There you are again! I was hoping to see you again Mr. Lowell after what I did..." Magnus mocked. Chrom's eyes filled with rage as the others joined him. "You have some allies? What happened to the others?"

Chrom grumbled, "I left them and so did my friends. Now... all three of us are going to KILL YOU!" Magnus smiled as Marth and Ephraim appeared alongside him.

"Well, I can't wait!"
