The moon was howling within the night as the heroes tucked themselves into bed. Some of them were willing to give up their beds to the family members and slept on the seats which were comfortable enough. Chrom couldn't help but stare at the ceiling wondering about every little thing.
"Emma... Claude... Emmeryn, you're all up there watching over me... so are the heroes, they're protecting us along the way... I can't believe after all those years, I never got a chance to thank you all... I've lost so much over the years and they're getting worse and worse..." Chrom whispered. He stared up at the ceiling and then gently smiled.
He felt his body slowly shutting down bit by bit. He was tired, becoming exhausted. All he could think about was his family, they were with him but those he loved and held dear to his heart were dead. His allies who stuck with him along the whole way were gone as well. Chrom put his arm over his eyes and proceeded to cry.
"They're all gone, but they're all gone for a reason, they did it to protect us... Emelia was killed unjustly and I swear upon my life to kill her but... Claude... he was protecting me when I was unfocused, he died due to my mistakes..." Chrom whispered as he stared at the ceiling. Tears were flooding his eyes
"GAH-"
"CLAUDE?! CLAUDE!?!? NONONONO!!!" Chrom yelled while shaking him. Tears were forming in his eyes. "WHY?! WHY DIDN'T YOU LET ME DIE?!"
"I couldn't... I couldn't dare to do that..."
"NO!!!!!! YOU CAN'T DIE ON ME!! YOU CAN NOT!!! NOT AGAIN!!! I CAN'T LOSE YOU!!"
"CLAUDE PLEASE!!"
"CHROM!!! ... You're the most handsome and beautiful man I ever got to meet. I know you're strong, and you have this..."
"Claude..."
"Just remember, I'm going to stick by your side till the end of this fighting... spiritually since... I won't last... I love... you... so... much..."
"I love you so much too... Claude..."
"Honey... before I die... I just... wanted to tell you..."
Chrom stared at the ceiling as he remembered Claude's dying words. They were real, all of what happened that day was real. He had lost the person closest to him that very day, two months ago. It was so long he couldn't think of anything.
Chrom whispered, "Claude... I don't know if you can hear me or anything but... I hope you can realize how much love I had for you. It was so unconditional, I had no control over myself but I knew one simple thing... I loved you..." He reached out to the sky as he also remembered Emelia's dying words...
"E-EMELIA!?"
"C-Chrom?"
"I... don't know if... I'll... live..."
"YOU- YOU HAVE TO LIVE!"
"I love you, promise me... you'll be... okay..."
But there was still more, he could remember the words of what happened that very day when Emmeryn died...
"Plegians! I ask that you hear the truth of my words! War will win you nothing but sadness and pain, both inside your borders and out. Free yourselves from this hatred! From this cycle of pain and vengeance. Do what you must... As I will do. See now that one selfless act has the power to change the world!"
"Emm, no! No!"
"No reaction... Was I wrong then? Chrom... This is some torch I'm passing you. Hmph... So be it. Chrom... Lissa... know... that I loved you."
Chrom stared up at the ceiling and then back at himself. He was gripping on the sheets of the bed. Nothing more came out from this, he was in near tears. Not sure of what to do next as he had no future now. There was nothing to hold back. There was absolutely nothing.
"GODS!! WHY DID ALL THEIR LIVES HAVE TO BE TAKEN AWAY!!" Chrom screamed into a pillow. Everyone was sound asleep but Chrom couldn't get himself to sleep. He couldn't stop reminiscing about the memories he had of them. They were all so dear to him, yet he couldn't control himself.
All he heard were the sounds of dead silence, there wasn't even the sound of crickets. Soon there was a sudden wind howling. Chrom slowly got up from his bed and crept down the stairs. He sat in the driver's seat for the first time ever...
There it was...
A blue sky, a white moonlight.
"A-A... Miracle... that's... beautiful... a moonlight... in three years I never thought I would see the day again," Chrom whispered as he cried tears of joy. He stepped out of the bus and looked up at the sky.
The moon shone brightly through the entire night sky, it was a miracle at first sight. All there was each night was purple dark and eerie skies. But the blue skies were real! They were all real!
"THANK YOU MICHAEL!!! THANK YOU!!"
