Searching For a Vast Story ~ Chapter 12

After lots and lots of driving around and avoiding crowds, Link and Chrom eventually made it to the library. Driving their motorcycle into the library and slamming the doors shut in order to prevent others from entering.

"Are you sure everyone is... outside?" Chrom glanced around the area before putting their motorcycle to the side. Then Chrom pushed a bookshelf over to block people from walking in.

"We should be very cautious, someone could still be in here," Chrom replied as he cleaned his hands off. He looked around the area and it was dark. However the window in the distance was illuminating the dark red sky. They took off their helmets and put them on the motorcycle.

Link muttered, "I've never been to the city library... this is crazy big." Chrom nodded in agreement before both of them suddenly heard a creak in the distance. Both of them took out their weapons, glancing over to where they heard the creak. Then it was a figure, swirls were in their eyes.

"It's the librarian. They're hiding here the whole time," Chrom muttered. Then Link started shooting arrows at them. The librarian threw some books at the pair. However, Link's arrows pierced through them. However, Chrom was hit by one of the books.

"Shoot, what do you suppose we do?" Chrom asked. Link looked over toward where the librarian was. Slowly raising, holding another book in their hands. Link stood there staring at the librarian before raising his sword.

Link muttered, "They don't appear to be armed but... I'm afraid we have to kill them." Chrom looked at Link for a moment before nodding, dashing up the stairs. The Librarian panicked and began to start throwing more books at Chrom. However, Chrom blocked the books that were being thrown at him and then slashed the librarian.

"I'm dearly sorry but in order to protect ourselves... we must-" Suddenly Chrom was stabbed in the eye with a pencil. He fell backward in agony. Then the librarian started hitting Chrom with the book. Link dashed up the stairs and threw a dagger into the librarian's head. They fell backward and Link finished the job by stabbing them.

Link gasped, "Good lord, this is a lot worse than I thought..."

"I agree, gods... my eye," Chrom looked at his eye and noticed that tears were dropping due to the agonizing pain. But there appeared to be zero blood loss. Link looked at Chrom and noticed something off about him.

Link muttered, "Dude... I think you wanna look at yourself in a mirror." Chrom looked in confusion until Link handed him the mirror. Chrom stared at himself and noticed that one eye was a black swirl. Chrom started to slowly start freaking about his eye.

"Nonono... I'm being affected... NO!" Chrom screamed. Link handed him an eyepatch and Chrom frantically placed it on. Chrom put his head into his knees as Link tried to comfort Chrom. "I'm so screwed..."

Link replied, "You're only semi-affected, maybe we can find the cure and do a test on you. That is if you're okay with that." Chrom looked down at himself and trembled in fear. Link looked around the library and noticed the librarian had a book. He grabbed it and stared at it.

"What does it say?" Chrom questioned. Link turned on his flashlight to read the cover. "Passages Written for Professionals of Medicine. This looks promising." Link slowly opened the book and looked inside it. Chrom looked over in worry but soon there was... loud sounds. The two looked down to spot the door rattling.

Link looked over and muttered, "Crap... someone is trying to get in." He closed the book and dashed to the door. Chrom quickly followed after and the two stared at the door. They watched the door keep shaking and budging. They took out their weapons and waited patiently. Then the doors started to creak open. The two attacked and tried to shut the door.

"GET OUT GET OUT!!!" Chrom screamed. They kept pushing until eventually they got the people out but someone's hand was cut off. "When... did the doors get sharp?" Chrom and Link looked at one another and looked down at the hand. The hand was bleeding out as Link shivered at the sight of it.

Link groaned, "That's so gross..." Link went back upstairs while Chrom stood there staring at it. He started to drool, it looked... incredibly delicious to him. "HURRY UP CHROM!!" Chrom looked over and grabbed the hand from the ground. He dashed upstairs and met up with Link.

Chrom replied while shaking, "S-Sorry. I ended up getting incredibly nervous over something... I'm so very sorry." Link sniffed the area and smelt a really gross aroma around the area. He looked over while Chrom was standing there with the bloody hand in his hands.

"You're crazy, good lord," Link sighed. Chrom giggled nervously while Link looked through the book to find the cure. Link kept flipping through the pages, soon he noticed blood was dripping on the pages. "DUDE CAN YOU-"

"I-I'm sorry?! I'm really hungry right now!?" Chrom replied. Link looked at Chrom eating the hand. Link looked at him in disbelief as Chrom glared at him. Link turned away before gagging.

Link gagged, "If you're hungry, go ahead and do it away from the book..." Chrom nodded and walked across the hall to finish eating the hand. Link kept looking through the pages. That was the case until he found it. "THERE IT IS! OH THANK GOD!!"
