"Mother..." A voice called out. The person turned around and stared down at the child. "Mother... I'm so scared of the thunderstorms."
"Don't you worry about a thing, you're going to be safe with me," The mother replied gently hugging the child. The child looked around the dark room as their cousins slept in the room. "Here, you can come sleep with me and your dad." The child nodded as they walked into the bedroom. The dad was fast asleep. The mother gently carried the child and tucked them into bed.
The child asked, "What are you doing?" The mother moved into the bed and smiled at the child.
"I'm just here to protect you, after all that's what mothers are for," The mother replied with a smile. The child nodded as they cuddled with their mother. Their father didn't seem to be too bothered by the child sleeping in the room but it was what it is.
The child sighed, "I love you mom, no words will describe that..." The mother smiled at the child as the two slept through the rainy night. The next morning the child heard laughter from their cousins.
"HAHAH! THE BABY STILL SLEEPS WITH HIS PARENTS!" One of the children mocked. The child got off from the bed and brushed themselves. "Does your mother still help you get ready?"
The child replied, "Of course she does! Unlike your moms; she's willing to take care of me!"
"Moms aren't supposed to take care of their children! They're meant to work around the house! How hard is that for you to understand?!" The other child mocked. The child stared at them as the other child ran off. The child stood there and got ready for the day.
The child sighed, "Mothers aren't supposed to work around the house. They're supposed to help..." Magnus looked up from where he was and saw his mother behind him. "Mom!"
"Hello sweetheart, I just came here to help you get ready for the day? What outfit would you like to wear?"
"I want to wear the suit with the tie! That's how I'm going to be when I'm older! Ruling over the house of Upton! That's what my great great great grandfather did! He was so cool!" The child laughed. The mother nodded as they grabbed the suit from the closet.
The mother replied, "So this is the outfit you want? Here you go Magnus." The child smiled happily as they gave an embrace to their mother.
"Eliza... you're not supposed to be doing that. Milo doesn't want you to take care of your children, he wants the children to be independent," A woman replied.
The mother laughed, "Izzy, you worry too much. I get that Milo doesn't want us taking care of our kids and wants them to be independent. However, he doesn't know that yet!"
"I guess you make a point Eliza," The woman replied as they walked off. The mother walked out of the room as the child got themselves ready. They walked out the room and ran to their cousins.
One of the kids laughed, "There's Magnus! The guy who still has his 'mommy' still take care of him!"
"You're just mad you didn't have a mother,"
"YES I DID! SHE LEFT ME INDEPENDENT UNLIKE YOU!!" The other child screamed. The child rolled his eyes as he sat at his desk. He started writing his plans for the future.
Magnus groaned, "I had plans to help others when I grew older. How pathetic can I even be?" Magnus crumbled up the paper he had and dumped it into the trash can. He took a deep breath and then looked outside the window into the red blood sky. "I was so naive back then. My mother took care of me for far too long... I was mocked and made fun of, that brat..."
Magnus looked around the room he was in and then back at the journal. He read through everything he had written down in it. Gagging at each word that was written. It was all "sunshine" and "rainbows." That made him dread himself.
"I was so stupid... can't you believe I wanted to be a hero?! Being just like Milord Upton is all I could've ever asked for! Nobody can compare to who I am! I'm all laughing at them now in their graves!" Magnus looked down at himself and smiled grimly. He took the journal and then grabbed a lighter.
Then within a flash he lit the notebook on fire. The table caught on fire as the notebook burned within the dark and cold room. Magnus was grinning at the sight of it. What a beautiful thing that had come out of that. It was simply divine... all that he would have dreamed of. Hellfire, that's all that was there. Hellfire...
