Controlled The Mind Rest ~ Chapter 20

"Good morning everyone! I got a really good rest in the long-term but I'm not sure about the rest of you!" Sonic announced. Kirby, Mario, and Elfilin woke up alongside him. They got themselves ready for the next part of their expedition but noticed how the rest of the heroes weren't waking up.

Kirby questioned, "Good morning? Are you guys going to wake up?" Mario walked over and tried waking everyone up with a stick but nothing. The heroes were still sound asleep... Did something happen to them overnight?

"Gods, what could've happened?" Elfilin questioned. All a sudden, Chrom shot awake. He seemed dizzy but something was off about him. "Oh you're awake! Thank goodness because I was starting to get worried about you!" Chrom looked over at Elfilin and swirls filled his eyes.

Kirby shouted, "HOLY CRAP WHAT THE HELL!?!" Chrom got up and tried attacking Mario. However, Kirby pinned him onto the ground quick enough before he was able to do anything more. "What has gotten into you?! One moment you're a happy prince and now you're infected?! That other eye did get to you!"

"SILENCE! YOU DON'T GET TO SPEAK TO ME IN THAT MANNER YOU WORTHLESS CREATION!" Chrom screamed. Kirby gasped in return and continued to pin him down. Chrom kept on trying to push Kirby off him but Kirby was not budging. He did not even want to try budging

Sonic questioned, "Oh my gods, what even happened overnight to cause him to act like that?!" Then the rest of the heroes slowly woke up. In the exact same manner Chrom woke up. "Stay alert..." Then all of a sudden it was just like that they proceeded to attack each other. The heroes were suddenly beyond terrified.

"HEY!!! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING!?!" Mario shouted. He tried to stop them but nothing was working. They continued attempting to murder each other. Elfilin frantically looked inside the bag for something to help fight back, he tried his best as for the other heroes tried to understand the situation at hand.

Kirby asked, "WHAT IS GOING ON?! WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED LAST NIGHT THAT CAUSED THIS?!" Sonic dashed in to help Mario stop everyone from attempting to kill each other. The heroes kept on trying to attack each other as the two tried their best to stop the two.

Chrom giggled, "I love it when there's pure chaos... that's the reality of the future we live in. After being reincarnated, I think it's something I enjoy watching... the satisfaction of this is immense..." Kirby turned to him and glared Chrom down.

"SHUT IT"

"Why don't you..." Then Kirby jumped on Chrom's back. Eventually it seemed like Elfilin was finally able to find something to fight back against the despair. So he poured the medicine inside the bucket and got prepared to splash it on everyone. The heroes kept on trying to go at each other's throats. Elfilin got the help of Kirby as the two then splashed it on everyone.

"Oh my god... what did you use?" Sonic asked. Elfilin looked at the bucket as Kirby also looked at the bucket as well.

Elfilin replied while showing the medicine, "We used this repellent against Despair. It temporarily disables their despair but it doesn't exactly remove it from them." Kirby looked at the medicine and then slowly nodded in agreement.

"It's all we need anyways, I heard this can keep it away for a very long time," Mario replied. Soon the heroes all fell onto the ground. Mario sprayed some in Chrom's face and everything appeared to be back to normal once again.

Shez questioned, "What the... it felt like I was having a bad dream. One moment I was fine and the next moment I was at Byleth's throat attempting to kill him." The heroes all looked at one another and nodded. They all got up and cleaned themselves off.

"That's pretty much what happened. You all may want to check yourselves out at the lake..." Sonic explained. The heroes dashed their way over to the lake while Mario handed Kazuha a mirror. The heroes realized what had happened.

Chrom groaned, "I knew something was off about the sudden moment where the campfire went out. It went out without any warning last night and I chased something. I knew that person was real..." The heroes stared in confusion at Chrom while Kirby got off him.

Shez replied, "They were real? They are responsible for our half induced eye?" Chrom nodded as he got up slowly. The heroes stared at one another. They were attacked last night in a calming matter, there was no escape from the events happening.

Kirby sighed, "Well, we better be careful about this... there's so much danger that's going to happen ahead of time. Maybe it's time we continue our search for time itself..." The heroes nodded in agreement. They soon got themselves together, grabbed their travel bag and dashed off from the lake.

Shez asked, "Hey Chrom! Do you think that guy is going to make another appearance anytime soon?" Chrom looked at Shez and down upon himself.

"I'm certain they will, and whoever they are... they're going to pay for what they had done to us," Chrom muttered. Shez nodded as he dashed over to the group. Chrom was still a bit behind the group but he knew he was going to find a way to prove that whoever attacked him was real...

Kirby yelled, "YOU'RE FALLING BEHIND CHROM! HURRY UP!" Chrom jumped and started following after the heroes. They were all gathered together and continued to run away from Lake Drain.
