Dawn's Destiny

The Wish of Theirs ~ Chapter 146

Alear and Byleth fell directly onto the ground. Magnus smiled down at them as Chrom slowly opened his eyes again. He looked around in confusion as Magnus stepped over toward where Chrom was laying down. He felt agonizing pain filling his body as Magnus looked down at Chrom.

"They're dead..."

"WHAT?!?" Chrom felt a huge pain in his stomach as he got up and looked towards Alear and Byleth. Their corpses lay on the ground. He couldn't believe his eyes, this just had to be a nightmare. There was no way they were dead... but it was the truth. The reality of everything that was going on...

Magnus laughed hysterically, "THEY'RE DEAD!! FINALLY AFTER ALL THIS TIME THEY'RE ALL DEAD!!! Now that just leaves me the Exalt." He looked over toward Chrom as Chrom felt his entire body shaking from fear. He felt like everything he cared for was gone. Because they were gone, Chrom was all alone...

"NO!!! NO!!!! GODS PLEASE NO!!!" Chrom screamed as he looked down at the heroes. Magnus vanished from the scene as Time appeared besides Chrom. "NO!!! THEY DIDN'T HAVE A CHANCE TO EVEN SAY GOODBYE! THEY DIED BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO PROTECT ME!!"

Time whispered, "Chrom... I'm so terribly sorry for your loss..." Chrom didn't even hear Time as he was panicking so badly. He wished for the entire war to be over but there was no happy ending. Chrom couldn't find a way to end the war... at least not yet. But doomsday just felt like it was coming over to win.

"We're never going to be able to perform the Miracle now... all of Dawn is doomed because of my stupid mistakes..." Chrom cried into his hands. He was prepared to give up right there, this was the end. Dawn was going to burn to the ground and Chrom was going to die. He, Alear, and Byleth were Dawn's last hope... but now they're just... nothing.

Time explained, "What are you talking about?! Dawn isn't doomed because your allies are dead! You and I are left of it but we can still save Dawn." Chrom finally took notice of Time as he looked up at her. Tears still flooded his eyes as he looked away from her, grabbing his arm as he felt so guilty about everything.

"I... I'm not strong enough to perform The Miracle Time... I'm not strong enough to perform such a big task... Dawn is lost because of how stupid I am..." Chrom cried. Time grabbed Chrom's head and wiped his tears away. Chrom looked at her with tears still streaming down but he wanted to stay somewhat strong...

Time sighed, "You're not the worst... we have so much that is yet to be fulfilled. Dry your tears Chrom, we can do this together. You and I... both of us can do this if we believe in ourselves hard enough."

"Do we?" Chrom asked.

Time replied with a slight smile, "We do... you and I are able to do anything... I care for you deeply and we'll get strong enough to perform the Miracle..." Chrom looked down at himself before taking a long deep breath. Time kept her hand on Chrom's cheek as he looked up.

"Are you certain?"

"Yes..." Then Time showcased Chrom all the heroes' wishes they had for him.

Chrom asked, "What... what are you showing me?" Chrom walked over to them, hesitating for a moment before gently tapping the screen. Time appeared alongside him as a list of photos of the heroes appeared. Not only that but others were included in that list.

"The wishes all your allies asked of you during their dying breaths or when they were still mentally conscious..." Chrom looked at the list and then read them all.

"Protect Dawn for us! No matter what..." - Sonic

"Even if I couldn't survive, I want to come back to a Dawn that was saved!" - Kirby

"Nobody is going to change the fact we're going to keep pressing forward and wait till Dawn is ours to heal," - Mario

"Dry your tears and save Dawn already, there's no reason to stall..." - Link

"Even if... we couldn't help you Chrom... just... bring back Dawn..." - Byleth

"No matter what ends up happening, you're going to bring back the Dawn we once loved..." - Hajime

"Dawn... dying right now? Heh, Dawn won't be dying forever... you guys have this..." - Zhongli

"Just... tell Alear, Byleth, Chrom that... if we don't all live, they can bring back Dawn we loved," - Agent 4

"WE WON'T LIVE SHEZ!! I just... hope they can restore Dawn again," - Albedo

"I'm so... guilty for what I told Chrom... I don't think I would... forgive myself," - Eula

"We're going to die here, so be it. We died trying to save our home, so they will have to try too!" - Yae Miko

Chrom stopped reading to notice he was in tears. He scrolled through each of the messages until he read Claude's...

"Please... win for us honey... win for me..." Chrom cried into his palms and couldn't stop himself.

Time sighed, "I know you're scared... but we can do this..." Time hugged Chrom tightly as Chrom continued to cry.

Chrom cried, "My husband... I will make sure I restore Dawn to its peaceful state... I promise you we can be happy again..."

"We have to leave Chrom, let's go..." Chrom nodded as they went back into reality. Chrom looked into the forest nearby and then walked in slowly.
