Empty Hearted Empty Footsteps ~ Chapter 131

"One... two... three..." Chrom sighed. Then he started playing the piano. Emma was watching him play the piano as she held Lucina in her hands. She smiled while she watched Chrom continue playing the piano. Chrom kept all his focus on his piano playing skills.

Emma laughed, "You play the piano beautifully!"

"Thank you sweetheart, I want to make you a song but I'm still working on the keys," Chrom replied. Emma blushed and smiled at Chrom. Chrom smiled back at her while blushing as well. "I love your smiles sweetheart..."

Emma giggled, "Thank you Chrom..." She looked at Lucina and gave her a small kiss on the cheek. Chrom saw that Lucina was trying to alert something to Emma

"What does Lucina want?"

Emma replied, "I think Lucina wants to try the piano too." Chrom nodded as he smiled gently toward the two.

"Alright, I'll let her have a try," Chrom replied as he grabbed Lucina from Emma's hands. He sat her on his lap as Lucina started to tap the keys. The two smiled as Lucina kept on tapping the keys.

Lucina laughed, "The piano is so much fun mommy and daddy!" She tapped on the keys, of course it didn't make sense but the two enjoyed that she was enjoying herself. That's all they wanted for her, to be happy.

"Yes it is..." Chrom replied as he smiled at Lucina. She didn't know what she was playing but she was having so much fun with the piano. "Do you want to learn how to play the piano when you're older?" Lucina looked at Chrom as her eyes lit up with glee.

Lucina cheered, "YES YES YES DADDY! I want to play the piano! It sounds so cool!!" She kept jumping up and down as Chrom nodded.

"I'll teach you how to play when you're eight years old, alright? I think that is the best age to start playing," Chrom replied. Lucina smiled and hugged Chrom tightly. Chrom hugged her back as he looked toward Lucina, who was still very jumpy and excited.

Lucina said, "Ooh! Ooh! Mommy wanted to tell you somethin!" Chrom looked at her in confusion as he glanced toward Emelia for a moment. Then he looked back at Lucina. "Mommy! Mommy! Tell daddy!"

"What is it, honey?" Chrom asked as he turned to Emelia. Emelia looked at him and smiled. Then she left the room for a bit. "What could she be trying to tell me?" Lucina kept hugging Chrom as he hugged her back.

Emma sighed, "This is actually a relatively big announcement but I decided that perhaps now is a good time to tell you." Chrom looked at her still with confusion but he was filled with curiosity. What could Emelia possibly have to say?

"Oh dear, I'm a little nervous about what you're going to say," Chrom replied while giggling softly. Emma took a deep breath and then grabbed something out. "What is this?"

Emma asked, "Don't you know what this is?! Come on Chrom, you're smarter than this!" Chrom laughed and then grabbed the thing Emma had in her hands. Chrom looked at it and then back at Emma. He was in complete shock at the news.

"You're kidding..."

"I KNOW RIGHT?! AHHHH!!" Chrom got up and hugged Emma tightly. "I CAN'T BELIEVE WE'RE GOING TO HAVE ANOTHER CHILD!!"

Lucina asked, "Child?"

"Lucina, you're going to have a baby brother or a baby sister," Chrom replied while cleaning the tears from his eyes. Lucina stared at the ground and then started cheering. "I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU HONEY!"

Emma cried, "I still can't believe we're going to have another baby! I'm so excited for them to be born! I just know they're going to be another gem to our family!"

"Yes they will honey... I'm still in utter shock, another child for us,"

"Ooh, I hope it's a boy... I don't mind if it's a girl either though, I'm just so happy!" Emma cried. Chrom smiled at her and then hugged her tightly.

Chrom stopped walking and whispered, "Why... why did I remember the moment when Emelia announced she was pregnant?" He stood there in silence for a brief moment. Remembering the events clear as light. It was... bizarre to remember.

"Chrom?"

"I just... randomly remembered the day Emelia told me that she was pregnant with Morgan... I don't know why," The two looked at each other and back at Chrom.

Alear asked, "Maybe it was for a happy memory for you to remember?" Chrom looked down at himself in sadness as he remembered everyone. Emelia was dead prior to the war and his kids died in the war. Once more blood flashed in his eyes after being reminded his kids were dead.

"It didn't really work... it just made me feel a lot more sad because of how much I miss my entire family..." Chrom muttered as tears filled his eyes. He shivered slightly as more blood appeared in his vision. Alear and Byleth looked at each other and then walked in to give Chrom a hug.

Byleth sighed, "It's okay... they're in a better place now. There's no reason to be crying..." Chrom heard Byleth and felt himself crying more, he felt so useless and helpless.

"I know but I miss them so much..."

"I understand how you feel, if you so desire to let it all out, do so..." Chrom then continued to cry in Byleth's arms.
