Illumination ~ Chapter 40

"HEROES! OH THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE ALIVE!!" A voice shouted. The heroes looked at the person and it was revealed to be Azura. "I was so worried that we were doomed for the rest of our days!" The heroes all lowered their weapons and stopped being so nervous. Letting out a huge sigh of relief.

Shez laughed, "Lady Azura! It's good to hear from you again." Azura smiled at them and the heroes smiled back at her. "I'm surprised you managed to find us here. How is that possible?"

Azura explained, "I was taking a walk around Forest Earthfall when I heard some laughter. I tried seeing where it was coming from until I came across all of you!" The heroes all nodded as Azura smiled at them.

"I'm more than happy that you found us Azura, we heard you're living in Vivin City correct?" Byleth said before questioning. Azura nodded and helped lead the way for the heroes. The heroes followed after her as they continued to enjoy the beauty of Earthfall.

"I'm surprised any of you are alive! How have you been?"

Chrom replied, "Not the best... I've been getting more and more anxious about the safety of my family. It's like I can't talk to them or anything as they abandoned their phones back when this all started to happen."

"Oh... I'm so sorry to hear that Chrom, I hope we can hear from your family soon,"

"Are they in Vivin City?" Chrom looked at her before looking away for a moment.

"It's possible," Chrom looked down at the watch and looked back up. The heroes were talking left and right with one another. Chrom was just filled with anxiety, wondering what was coming for him next. He searched around the area to see if there was anything that would give him hope but there was unfortunately... nothing.

Chrom stopped for a moment to enjoy the scenery. Being reminded of all the good and happy memories he had with his family. Praying that they were alive in some form. Uninjured from the disaster that has happened.

"Look at that! Here we are!" Azura cheered. The heroes stopped talking and saw the huge gate in front of them. Azura allowed them in and when they entered it was like... nothing had ever happened. Right in front of them was Tails.

Tails asked, "Is... that? THE HEROES?!" He got up and dashed toward them. "You guys are alive!? That's incredible! I'm so happy to hear that you're all alive in some form! Thank goodness!"

Kirby cheered, "We're just happy to see familiar faces again! It's been so empty and lost around here. Nothing too special..." The heroes all nodded as Chrom kept on searching around the area. He seemed to be off focused on what was going on.

"Yeah... you've heard about the nukes hitting the ocean? I heard a Tsunami happened over at Dawn City... just more people being killed over and over again," Tails explained. The heroes looked at one another with concern and looked back. "Anyways, Ruby and Jade will be here shortly to greet you guys! In the meantime you can look around!"

The heroes nodded and split their ways. Chrom kept looking around as Byleth walked over to Chrom. "Do you really believe that your family is here?" Chrom jumped and turned toward Byleth.

"If they're somewhere... they have to be here... I know they have to..." Chrom muttered while looking down at himself. He continued looking around trying to better understand the place. The place was lively and filled with people who were happy with themselves. Without any worries at all.

Byleth sighed, "I wonder who else is here... maybe there's someone we know in this area of the city." Byleth looked over toward Chrom who was constantly searching the area. He didn't know what to do or what to tell Chrom. He was so laser focused.

"Come on... please tell me they're somewhere here..."

"Chrom..."

"THEY HAVE TO BE HERE!" Chrom shouted. Tears were streaming down from his face. Byleth walked over closer to him as Chrom cleared the tears from his face. "They have to... I refuse to believe they're dead." Byleth took a deep breath and that's when he spotted a figure in the distance walking towards them.

"DADDY!!!" Chrom looked up from the ground and looked around. He looked back toward the figure and saw two other ones approaching. "DADDY!! DADDY! THERE YOU ARE!" Chrom then stood there in shock, but it wasn't anything bad, he was just so glad to see them.

Chrom gasped, "They're okay... oh my gods..." Byleth was in absolute disbelief as Chrom dashed over to the figures. Turns out the figures were Lissa, Claude, Morgan and Lucina. Chrom felt himself nearly crying as Lucina started getting very excited.

"DADDY!!" Lucina got down from Lissa's arms and dashed into Chrom's arms. Chrom quickly hugged her and lifted up Lucina into the air.He was crying tears of joy while the others smiled. Byleth looked at Chrom and back at the family. Gently smiling in the process.

Chrom cried, "Oh it's just incredible! This is incredible Byleth!"

"It... really is incredible!" Byleth laughed before looking back down at himself. He turned away from the family as he looked down at his hands. He didn't really have anyone to go to and plus Chrom wouldn't care that much for him. "It... really... is..."

He turned to face the family one more time before taking a deep breath and walking off. He felt like a lot was upon him, Beth was nowhere to be seen. Not that he cared but he didn't have anyone to go to. Chrom was his best friend and yet he had a family. Still he couldn't let that get to his head. He turned toward the family and gently smiled. Finally clearing his head from the clouds.
