The Royal Gods of Dawn Set Foot Again ~ Chapter 42

The heroes finally got back together after searching around the city. After so much they found lots of people were alive and enjoying their time together. Each of them did a report and Chrom was dozing off slightly on the chair. Then came by Shez, he noticed Chrom sleeping on the chair but he knew he had to say something. He tapped him on his shoulder and Chrom woke up suddenly.

"Did you find your family?" Shez asked. Chrom nodded with glee in his face. Byleth looked around the area and noticed Ruby and Jade were walking by with Azura and Tails. Soon the other two looked over and saw them walking over. Byleth got up from the bench and walked closer, then he turned to face the two.

Byleth explained, "They're coming. Let's prepare ourselves." The heroes nodded and got down on their knees. The two gods walked over and smiled at them. They looked up to them and smiled back to them.

Jade explained, "It is absolutely wonderful to see you all again. Waiting and waiting for our faithful heroes to return. Looks like the dream came true..." The heroes looked up and smiled at Jade as she asked them to stop being so formal with her. The heroes got up and nodded while smiling nervously, while Jade chuckled with them.

"Sorry for arriving late, there was a skirmish happening near Forest Earthfall... some goo creature attacked us out of nowhere but we were able to deal with it safely," Mario explained. The heroes all nodded in agreement as Ruby stood there thinking. Then he faced the heroes again with his hand near his mouth.

Ruby sighed, "You've met the creatures of the underworld hm? I'm afraid they finally arrived here in Dawn. The underworld spirits are beginning to haunt our lands due to the insane acts of Magnus." The heroes all jumped backward slightly from disgust as Chrom looked at himself in silence. He knew he felt something about Magnus, and he just couldn't contain himself anymore.

"Magnus..." Chrom whispered. Anger filled his eyes as he took a deep breath to help himself calm down. Chrom slowly looked up and back towards the gods. The gods looked at one another and took a few deep breaths. Chrom didn't know what to say after his sudden anger, he just turned away from everyone.

Hajime questioned Chrom, "Do you have a grudge against Magnus Chrom?" Chrom looked at him and looked down at himself again as he took a long deep breath. He didn't know if he should answer Hajime's question or not but in reality; it was probably best for him to do so.

"No... I mean yes but... there's other reasons I dislike him. But that's a story for another time, let's listen to what Ruby and Jade need to tell us," Chrom explained. Hajime nodded and the two looked back at the gods. The gods appeared to just be waiting to see if the two were done talking.

Ruby sighed, "I know this is all so very sudden but I have no other choice but to do this." Jade looked at Ruby in confusion as Ruby started to slowly take off his mask. Jade stopped him immediately. The heroes were all confused as Jade looked at him dead in the eyes.

"Somewhere not so public..." Jade whispered. Ruby nodded and put it back on. The heroes were still left confused, what were the gods trying to do. What exactly were they planning and what was the purpose of Jade stopping Ruby from doing what he was about to do?

Ruby explained, "Heroes. Just follow me, it'll make all sense eventually I promise you." The heroes hesitated a little and then agreed. They followed Ruby and Jade down the street to an abandoned clothing shop. The heroes stopped for a moment and looked around the abandoned place.

Agent 4 asked, "Not sure why we're here but it seems important if you guys want to talk about it in secret." The two paused and turned towards the heroes.

Ruby sighed, "Just give us a moment to tell you about the entire situation..." Jade watched as Ruby took a deep breath. "Listen we know you heroes have gone through a lot and we just want to do something to gain more of your trust."

"More of our trust? We trust you enough already, is that not enough?" Sonic questioned. Ruby stood there in silence as Jade put her hand on his shoulder.

Jade explained, "While that might be the case to you guys, to us it doesn't feel to be the exact same way. We just want to show you something to give you an understanding of just who exactly we are deep inside."

"What... are you talking about?" Mario questioned. Ruby looked at Jade as Jade looked back at him. "You guys are leaving us a bit worried."

"Nonsense, let's just... do it without stopping," Ruby announced. Jade looked at him in confusion as Ruby grabbed his goggles.

Chrom asked, "Lord Ruby! What are you-"

"Trust me, I promise you this is perfectly okay for me to do," Ruby said with a small smile. The heroes all stood there staring at the two gods. Ruby felt himself tensing up for a moment but he knew he had to do something. Then he slowly started taking his mask off. Slowly distransforming in the process.
