Chrom walked over and saw Link reading the section with the cure. He had completed eating but blood was all over him. Link glanced over to Chrom and noticed all the blood on him. Cringing for a bit before Chrom rolled his eyes.
"Hey, do you think there's a restroom anywhere? I badly need to clean off..." Chrom questioned. Link looked around the area to search for a restroom. Then he pointed to one that was downstairs. "Thanks, man I appreciate your help." Link nodded while Chrom dashed down the stairs into the restroom.
Link sighed, "Chrom is an interesting human being, but probably being half affected with despair could be a part of it." Link looked at the book and took a deep breath. He skimmed through the page to ensure it was accurate. Seemed like it was, soon he started reading.
"The cure of despair is difficult to track; however, there is one way to find the cure. Although, nobody has been successful, maybe you can be the one who's successful. There is a wanderer of chaos who goes by the name Upton. His family line has been wandering around for ages. However, nobody has been successful at stopping them," Link read. Then he heard footsteps. Chrom had finished cleaning himself.
Chrom laughed, "Sorry for causing so much trouble earlier. I was suddenly really intrigued and got hungry. So there's that..." Link nodded and the two sat down together. Chrom read the first part on his own as Link got prepared to read the rest. Then, they continued reading the section.
"The Upton family liege is a group of malicious people who would do anything in their power to create mayhem. These are rare occurrences; but when they happen, there will be absolute chaos spreading across the world. Nobody has been successful at stopping them but the only way they were stopped is by this cure. However it is possible to stop them if you follow the word of time and the guidance of a sponsor known as time itself..."
Chrom asked, "Time itself? What does that imply? That there's a protector around here that can alter the future, present or past?" Link thought about it for a bit. However, no response came through; it was simply silence. "Time... itself? What does that mean?!"
"That could be the case but the book doesn't explain who time is," Link replied. Then the two got up. "Maybe we can search around the room to find out who time is exactly. One of the history books has to-" Suddenly their communicators started buzzing.
"Hey guys! Are you there?! You're taking a really long time and got us nervous!" Sonic yelled. He was sending the message to the pair. Link looked at Chrom and back at his communicator.
Chrom asked, "Sonic?" Link nodded before tapping his communicator to reply to him.
Link explained, "Don't worry me and Chrom are alright, thankfully. However, I don't think we're done investigating for the cure. There appears to be more than just the cure. We want to prevent this from happening ever again and therefore, we want to find the ultimate cure by stopping the person behind this."
"Alright... and the person behind this? What are you talking about?"
"There appears to be a family line called the Upton. I haven't heard of them until now but they seem to be a team of chaos makers. That's all I understood however..." Link explained. The two waited patiently for a reply.
Sonic explained, "Hang on we're coming over to get a better look at this. Send the directions and we'll be right our way." Link nodded and sent the directions to Sonic.
"All we have to do now is wait for their arrival, which shouldn't take... too long," Link explained. Chrom looked at himself before looking away from Link. "Chrom? Is something wrong?" Chrom shook his head no as he looked down at his hands.
Chrom took a deep breath and sighed, "Time itself... we should probably look for the book so we're ready to read it when they arrive. But time itself... It's so fascinating that someone is known that way."
"Perhaps time is a keystone, person, thing or place, who even knows," The two smiled at one another and started searching for the book. "Ooh... There's a lot in here. But I shouldn't get too distracted, we're just trying to find the answer to who Time Itself is." Chrom nodded in agreement as he searched through each of the books.
Chrom muttered to himself, "Time itself... time itself... What does that mean? It is said to be guidance for what is going to come, but... we need guidance at this very moment! We cannot keep going like this!"
"Find anything Chrom?"
"No sorry..." Chrom muttered. Link groaned as he kept searching. Chrom felt his stomach rolling around in circles. Chrom felt so anxious about everything that was happening. He still was confident there had to be someway through this hellfire but was that the case? Is there really something out of this?
Link groaned, "I love to check out this library when this is all resolved. There's a lot in here that feels worth checking out. But... no sign of anything regarding Time itself." Chrom stood there for a moment staring at the books. Before putting his head down against the shelf. "Hey, it's going to be alright..."
Chrom groaned, "I pray that we find some answers to this quicker. I don't know if I can stand seeing myself like this or seeing all of humanity suffer like this either." Link nodded as Chrom looked down at himself. Link pat Chrom on the back to ensure that everything was going to be alright in the end. They just had to believe in themselves.
