Burning Bridges

Hey guys! We're back with Rose as things are starting to take a turn for the worst. What'll happen now that it's revealed that Moon was leading the whole charge? Let's jump in and find out! :D

-Rose's POV-

"Star, Rose, I know it must seem crazy that Mina's working for me. But let me explain," Moon said. Star was leaning heavily against Marco, this bit of news making her legs grow weak. I felt my hands curl into fists as I said, "You...you TRAITOR!"

Without meaning to, I transformed into my butterfly form. Not just that, but in my rage, various spells lashed out from my hands. Star and Marco ducked for cover. Eclipsa and Moon used their magic to shield my spells. Moon transformed as well into her butterfly form. She flew up to me and said, "I know what this looks like, but you have to understand!"

"Understand what?!" I raged. "That you did all this to, what, protect us all?! Like any of this was truly necessary!"

"It was!" Moon argued. "Mina was already planning to overthrow Eclipsa. Trust me, I stopped her from doing far worse."

"Right, like starting a revolution behind my back and Star's was the right call," I said. Moon shouted, "The one who started this was her!" She waved her arm to gesture at Moon, but sent a magic blast at her. Eclipsa moved away in time and thankfully didn't get hit. But where she had stood was a gash in the floor with burnt marks. Moon panicked, "Oh, dear! That was an accident!"

"Really? An 'accident'?" I scoffed. "How can you expect anybody to believe that after what you just said?"

Moon sighed and floated to the ground, changing back to normal. She pleaded, "Rose, I know you trust Eclipsa. I trusted her once, too. Look where that got me."

"I beg your pardon?" Eclipsa said, offended. Moon turned towards her, shouting, "You're the reason I was lost in the magicdimension. You're the reason I was separated from my family! From my daughters!"

"That was an accident, Moon. You know that," Eclipsa argued. "And Rose and Star can take care of themselves. They're far wiser than we were at their age."

Moon took a breath and said, "I'm not going to argue about this, Eclipsa. I'm here to offer you a deal."

"What?" I said. I floated to the ground and transformed back. "What deal?"

"Surrender the crown to me. In return, I'll call off Mina and my Solarian Warriors," Moon said. Star's eyes widen and she said, "What?! Mom, you can't do this!"

"So you're the one who created the warriors. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised," Eclipsa said. I rolled my eyes, "Yeah, what else have you been hiding?"

Moon looked at me with sadness but turned her attention back to Eclipsa. "After that, I'll heal Globgor at the MagicSanctuary, and you and your family will be free to live in any dimension of your choosing. Except this one."

"And if I don't do what you're asking? What then?" Eclipsa asked. Moon stared at her before simply stating, "Things could get worse." Eclipsa stared at Moon before offering her umbrella to her. Marco gasped and Star and I chorused, "No!"

"It's all right, Rose, Star. I tried my best, but it appears my best... wasn't enough," Eclipsa said in defeat. I shook my head, "No we can still-!"

But it was too late. Moon took the umbrella away from Eclipsa. It took a second, but the umbrella started to change. The dark coloring on it flew off in the form of dark butterflies, replaced by bright blue light. The form changed at the same time, shrinking down in size. When the light faded, Moon's wand was in her hand. A blue crystal heart on a dark blue hilt with gold accents. Moon held the wand close and said to Eclipsa, "We have some time before Mina comes here. You can check with Globogr if you want."
