Hey guys! We get to one of my top ten favorite episodes! Anyway, here's the new chapter! :)
-Rose's POV-
I moaned and rolled over in bed. It was Saturday, a week after the football game incident. Even though I fixed things with Marco, I still can't get Tom out of my head. I hate his guts, but he won't get out of my mind. The memories won't leave, and on to of that, I've been lacking on sleep lately. I thought taking a nap would help, but when I go to sleep, I get the memories of Tom in my dreams. Not even the pleasant ones (which would not have helped at all), and those were bad enough. I sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes.
"Ugh! It's hopeless!" I screamed at the ceiling.
"What's hopeless?" I heard. I looked and noticed my sister at the top of the stairs, looking at me concerned. "You look awful."
"I haven't been able to sleep for the past few days," I said, rubbing my eyes.
"Tom?"
"How'd you know?!"
"Last time this happened it was after you two broke up."
"First off, we were never dating so we didn't break up. He just threatened to hurt you and that was when he crossed the line."
She smiled, "I know something that'll cheer you up."
I followed her down the stairs and we ended up in the kitchen. She pulled out a can of soda and tossed it to me. "It's called soda," she said.
"I know," I said opening it and taking a sip. I felt the sugar rushing through my veins and I woke up a little, but still felt tired. "Better?" she asked.
I nodded. We started heading back towards our room, Star leading and singing. "La-la-la-la-la-laaa" she sang. She suddenly stopped and I bumped into her. "What? Why did we stop?" I asked, but she pulled me into Marco's room. I looked and saw that Marco was wearing a white uniform of a sort and was wearing a headband on his head. He was taking deep breaths and focusing on a piece of wood.
Then suddenly, he yelled, "HII-YAH!" And he slammed his hand against the wood, breaking it to pieces. I jumped but was impressed; I knew Marco could fight monsters but wow.
"Whoa, you hate wood too?" Star asked, "Yeah crush that wood! Wood is the worst!" She started to throw a few punches and grunted, like she was ready to fight. I sat on Marco's bed, already feeling the sugar leaving my system. I took another sip and the rush came back. "Star, I'm sure doesn't hate wood."
"Yeah," he said, "I'm practicing for my upcoming Tang Soo Do Tournament."
"Oh," Star said. I did a mental face palm; I forgot he did karate. That's why he's splitting wood. But... "Why does breaking wood help you practice?" I asked.
"You see, Rose," he said turning towards me, "Martial arts is all about honor and discipline which is why...." Then he looked up and said, nearly shouting, "I'm going to kick Jeremy Birnbaum's butt!"
I looked at Marco confused; why was he talking about a talking bear that went through our parent's garbage. Star seemed to be wondering that too because she said my thoughts out loud. Marco explained, "He's just this creep in my dojo who's only any good because his rich parents buy him fancy equipment and private lessons." Star nodded, seeming to understand, but I had a feeling she didn't quite get it. Marco then piled five pieces of thick wood on the cinder blocks. I grew nervous, "Uh, Marco, take it easy with-"
"But Saturday," he said, raising his hand, "He'll get a taste of this!"
"Marco wait!"
Too late. He said his 'HII-YAH!' and brought his hand down, but suddenly we all heard a loud crack and Marco screamed in pain. He fell to the floor holding his hand, and I noticed his hand was bent in an odd way. I covered my mouth as I felt lunch starting to come back up. "Oh gosh," I said. Star screamed and ran out of the room screaming, "MR DIAZ! MRS DIAZ!"
Marco looked up and moaned again. I pushed down the sick feeling and knelt next to Marco. "Y-your parents will be here soon," I said.
"Can't you heal me with magic?!" he pleaded.
"I can lessen the pain-"
With his free hand he clutched my hands and I didn't need to know that he was saying yes. I put my hands on his forehead, and I again noticed his hand. Pushing down the nausea, I whispered a spell. Marco's grip on my hands lessen, but they were sill tight. He uncurled and laid on the floor. He looked at me and tried to smile, but it came out as a moan instead. "Don't need to thank me," I said, just as his parents came in.
His parents took him to the hospital and, a couple hours later, Marco was lying on his bed, his apparently broken arm in a cast. He groaned into a pillow, "This is a nightmare! If I can't fight Jeremy, he'll say I wussed out, and he'll never let me live it down!"
I heard all of this from my room upstairs, and slid down the railing and hoped off. "Do you need another pain reliever spell?" I asked, worried. He shook his head, and we both noticed that Star was in front of the mirror, using her wand to do either pigtails or ponytails.
"Pigtails? Ponytail? Pigtails? Ponytail?" she repeated. Marco's eyes grew wide and he sat up in her bed, "Wait. You have a wand! You could fix my hand!"
Star turned to us, with a bunch of pig tails and ponytails on her head, "you know...that sort of spell is not really in my comfort zone. Rose is the one with healing abilities."
Marco turned to me, "Could you?"
"Weeeeeellll," I said, rubbing my head, "I COULD but I don't know the exact spell."
Marco groaned and flopped back on the bed. "But!" Star said, running over to her bed. She pulled out a big book from under her bed, and said, as she pulled, "Rose you could -grunt- look up a -grunt- bone-healing spell -grunt- in the magic instruction book -grunt- that came with the wand."
"You had a manual this whole time?!" Marco said.
"And you didn't even bother to tell me?!" I asked. I bet there were a few spells I could use in there that could help me a lot.
"Yep," she said, as she stopped pulling it, "Whenever the previous owner of the wand learned a new spell, they scribbled it down here."
She opened it and a bunch of dust flew everywhere. She coughed and waved it away. "But it's a complete disorganized mess!" I came over and looked at the page that she was on as she spoke, "It's gonna take you forever to find the-"
"There it is," I said pointing. Star looked and smiled," Oh yeah! There it is!" I looked at it and frowned, "The spell is written in a ancient language, but I'll give it a shot."
I stood up and faced towards Marco. I placed my hands up and read, "Releasio Demonius Infestica!" Only after I said the spell, that I said it wrong. "Wait!" I yelled, but the magic blasted out of my hands and flew towards Marco. Two beams of light twirled around Marco's arm and his eyes grew wide, "I can feel it working!" he said, excited, "My fingers are tingling!"
"I need to stop the spell!" I screamed, but by the time I stopped the flow of magic, Marco's arm turned into a giant squid like tentacle. Marco screamed and we all looked in horror. I felt the guilt sink in.
"What have I done?" I mumbled.
....
Rose can't do every spell perfectly. Even she messes up sometimes. Anyway, hope you guys liked the chapter and I'll try to update ASAP. :)
