Hey guys! We get to the spooky chapter! What will happen to them? Let's jump in and find out! :D
-Rose's POV-
"Rose! Hurry up!" Star shouted from her part of the room. "The kids will be here any minute and Mr. Diaz wants us to be downstairs now!"
"On second!" I shouted, finishing up the rest of my costume. After a lot of thinking about what my Halloween costume should be and went with half of one and the half of the other. On my right, I wore half of a halo, one angel wing, and a white dress. On my left, I had a demon's horn, a black like wing, and a red dress. I even put a harp sticker on my right cheek and a pitch fork on my left cheek. I checked myself in the mirror, double checking that my costume was okay. I don't think Tom would approve of the accuracy of the demon's side of my costume but this was my costume, so I was going with this.
I slid down the rail into Star's part of the room, and noticed Star wasn't there. I shrugged my shoulders, walking past the mirror towards the door. "Interesting costume," I heard. I froze, hand hand inches from the doorknob. I heard a chuckle and Toffee said, "Why so shocked? It's not like you've never heard me before."
"You've been quiet," I said, looking up at the door. "What do you want?"
"Can't I just stop in to say hello?"
"You never do that."
Toffee was silent for a moment before saying, "Your time is running out."
"What are you talking about?" I asked. "What time?"
"Turn around." I turned around and noticed that the mirror was acting odd. I slowly walked over to it, confused on why it looked fuzzy. I placed my hand on the glass and suddenly, the fuzz disappeared and a lizard monster wearing a business suit stood in the mirror. Standing behind my reflection. I spun around, instinctively using a spell to destroy the monster behind me. But he wasn't there and I ended up destroying a lamp. I heard Toffee chuckle and I turned back to the mirror, noticing my reflection was gone and that the monster was laughing at the same time as Toffee.
"You don't even remember what I look like? That's sad," Toffee said, sounding hurt.
"How are you here?! Your suppose to be in my head!" I shouted at the mirror.
"Your running out time, Rose. Don't you remember what happened not too long ago at your slumber party? How you started turning into a scaly lizard?"
The realization hit me hard as I noticed the color of Toffee's scales and what the scale color for me was during that truth and punishment game. I hugged myself, feeling cold and sick. "I-I won't turn into you," I said, my voice shaking. "I won't let it happen!"
"You sure? There's only one other person who could turn into me and he hasn't even been well practiced in magic as you. Do you really think you can stop me?"
I stared at Toffee, with a determined look. His appearance flickered and he scowled. "Seems like I still have more work to do," he grumbled. "You always were as stubborn as Solar."
"Wait, you know who Solar is?" I asked, looking at Toffee in surprise. Toffee smiled and said, "Yes, but you'll find out eventually. It would be a terrible spoiler if I were to tell you now."
Toffee laughed and his appearance disappeared from the mirror, leaving my reflection there. I sighed and leaned my head against the mirror, whispering, "Why is nobody telling me anything?" I closed my eyes and sighed, wishing I could remember something, anything, about Toffee or anything else from my past. But nothing came to mind and I sighed. I walked out of my room and down the stairs, just as Mr. Diaz pushed an inflatable Frankenstein through the kitchen door. I raised an eyebrow and said, "Did I just miss something?"
