Hey guys! We finally get to this little snowflake. Anyway, here's the next chapter of Keeper of the Wand! :)
-Rose's POV-
It's been a week since the whole Monster Arm incident. So far, and surprisingly, no other surprises, no monster attacks, nothing. I haven't even had any nightmares of Tom, which meant I could actually get some sleep. Star and I were getting the hang of the earth routine of going to school, and I was getting better in my grades, which made me happy and Marco proud, since he was the one helping me out with homework.
What could possibly go wrong?
Apparently, everything. I woke up Saturday morning, seeing the sunlight shine through the curtains on the balcony. I sat up in bed and yawned I got out of bed and changed into my favorite outfit It was a green dress with a black cardigan. Along with the red horn headband Star and I share, I had on tan butterfly boots and striped light green and white tights. I brushed my hair, and teeth. I slid down the railing until I hopped down to Star's part of the room. But she wasn't there.
"Must be already awake," I said to myself, and skipped out of the room. I was walking down the hallway, when I heard Mr. and Mrs. Diaz say, "Happy 47th Day on Earth, Star!" I sighed; they have been doing that since we got there. But...it's been mostly for Star. I walked down the stairs, just as I noticed Marco's look of slight annoyance. He glanced and smiled at me; we both were used to Star's moments. I heard the doorbell ring, "I got it," I said, as I hopped down the stairs, and made it to the door before Marco.
When I opened the door, I REALLY wasn't expecting to see a kid there. And that's saying something; I'm from another dimension. The kid that stood in front of me had blond hair, and wore a sweater that I assumed was called an "ugly sweater". He wore a hiking backpack and wore hiking shorts and shoes. To match his sweater he wore a hat with fuzzy pompoms along with it. The smile originally on his face faded and a hint of red colored his cheeks.
"Hello," I said smiling. A smile grew on his face, although it looked nervous, "Hello!" he said in an accent I couldn't put my finger on. Before I knew it, he stepped forward and gave me a hug. I felt my face heat up, and I stuttered, "M-Marco! I-I think this is a friend of y-yours!"
He let go and said, "Don't be frightened! It's a tradition of mine to hug new people from where I'm from!" He then took my hand and said, "Especially new people who are so beautiful!"
He kissed my hand and Marco came to the door. I took a step back, feeling so flustered I didn't know what to do or how to react when Marco did a secret handshake with him. He turned to his parents and said, "Guess who's here!" His parents looked up and cheered, leaving Star without any cake. I shook my head, getting over my flustered moment as Star went up to the kid and said hi. "Hello! I am Gustav," he said, "I was the Diaz's foreign exchange student last year!"
That made sense and why he sounded different. I would if I have an accent? Probably not. My thoughts were interrupted by Star saying, "What?! But I thought I was your one and only foreign exchange student!" I cleared my throat, and she corrected herself, "I thought WE were your only ones!"
"Not even close," said Marco, "I mean, who did you think all these kids were?" I looked up to the wall Marco was gesturing too, and to be honest, was surprised I never noticed it before. The wall was filled with pictures of different exchange students that the Diaz's had. I guess they even had a robot and llama at one point, from two of the pictures I saw.
And I thought Mewni was odd....
My thoughts were interrupted by Gustav saying, "I have brought gifts for everybody!" The Diaz's oohed, as Gustav passed out the gifts. He came up to me and said, "For you....well, I don't really have much, but I do have an extra hat!"
He took a hat identical to the one he was wearing and placed it on my head. "Now, you even look more adorable!" he said, as I adjusted it.
"Th-Thank you," I mumbled, feeling my face heat up. He went up to Star and said, "And for you...nothing! Because I didn't know you existed!" He laughed and I noticed Star look a little down. I took the hat Gustav gave me and I gave it to Star. "I know how much you like hats," I whispered, and she smiled. I noticed Gustav looking at me, and he smiled when I looked at him.
"My, what a generous person you are!" he said.
"She's my sister. I always look out for her," I said smiling. Star smiled at me and Gustav continued, saying, "Come everyone, and I'll cook you my meatballs!"
Everybody got really excited, as Gustav started to lead the way into the kitchen. Well, everybody but me and Star. She seemed a little annoyed and and I patted her shoulder, "He'll only be here for a little bit," I said.
"I'm surprised you haven't fallen for his flattery," Star muttered.
"He's...actually making me more nervous. Like he's actually trying to impress me."
"Because maybe he is?"
I moaned, "I hope not." Suddenly, Gustav came back around the corner and said,"Come on, Rose!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me away, leaving Star to follow behind, irritated. Gustav placed me the chair closest to him. When he had his back turned, I moved my chair next to Star. I wasn't paying much attention, but Gustav was telling a story. I had nearly dozed off when Gustav leaned towards me and said, "What do you think, Rose?"
I jerked up, "Huh?"
"About my incredible tale of saving a polar bear!"
I glanced and noticed the Diaz's stare on me. I nodded, "It was...neat?"
He laughed, "I knew you would like it! Have a meatball!" Before I knew it, Gustav had shoved a spoon in my mouth with a meatball, and I swallowed it. Thankfully, only the meatball. "Well?" he asked, as I swallowed it.
"It's good," I said. His smile grew big and he stacked a bunch of meatballs on my plate. Okay, when I said it was good, didn't give him permission to pile my plate...
I pushed the plate so that Star and I could share, and Gustav kept tossing meatballs to everybody. Star looked up and asked, "So, uh, Gustav, where exactly are you from again?" He narrowed his eyes at Star, and asked, "How much do you know about Europe?"
"Well, I know it's a place. I'm pretty sure," she said. He smiled, "Ooh! well then. I come from a country of Scandinavia. It is a land where vikings teach gym class and everyone has a penguin, even if you don't like penguins! Pop, too bad, here's your penguin!" He said, trying to make a joke.
I know I'm not that earth smart yet, but something of what he said about Scandinavia sounds completely off.
Gustav kept throwing more meatballs at the Diaz's as they caught them, even Marco was getting in on this. Star looked like she was getting weird out by this. And I couldn't blame her, I was too. Suddenly, Marco stood up, his mouth full of meatballs, saying, " Just think-three more weeks of this!"
"Well!" I said, slapping my hands on the table and standing up, "I'm heading upstairs."
"What?!" Gustav said, surprised, "B-but don't you want more meatballs!" He shoved a platter of meatballs in my face. I pushed it back slightly, "I'm good, really."
"But you have to try more!" he said, pushing the plate back. But it slipped out of his hand, and it landed all over me. Everybody gasped, even Star. I looked down and saw I got meatballs and the juice all over me. Marco glanced at me, "Are you okay Rose?"
I was so ready to yell at Gustav, but when I turned my glare at him, he cowered like a rabbit would do, and I hesitated. "I'm.....fine," I said, trying to keep it together.
"Uh, Rose, I'm so-" Gustav started, but I turned on my heel and walked out of the kitchen and up the stairs. I went straight to the bathroom and took a shower. Once done, i changed into my regular outfit and went to my room. I sat on my bed and picked up a book from the shelve called, "Europe and the countries within".
Something was up with Gustav, and I was going to find it.
....
Wonder how this will turn out? Anyway, hope you guys liked this chapter and I'll try to update ASAP. :)
