Hey guys! So we finally get into backstory for Rose's mama. Anyway, here's the chapter about our mysterious Solar Butterfly! :D

-Rose's POV-

"I'm sorry guys," I whispered, grabbing what supplies that were left. Aunt Moon told me the whole story about her and my mom, not leaving out a detail. But there was something that didn't add up. Solar mentioned in my necklace how she knew Toffee. She even went as far as to refer to him as a friend. Aunt Moon didn't mention anything about Toffee except that he killed her.

I had to find out what really happened.

I picked up what was left of Marco's hoodie, tying the food and hoodie around a stick. I smiled at the improvised bag-on-a-stick I made. Only to remember Marco was the one who taught me. I quickly wiped the tears away and grabbed the stick, putting the bag on my shoulder. I looked at Aunt Moon and Star one more time, feeling upset that I was leaving them. But I had too. I had to face Toffee alone; this was my fight, not theirs.

I turned away and left the temple, my heart feeling even heavier for doing so. I hopped along the water stones to the shore. I glanced back over my shoulder at the temple before entering the woods. I walked along, being conscious of every noise that was made. My nerves were all shaken up since it was deep night and I could hear noises all around me. "Calm down, Rose," I muttered to myself. "It's just like hiking in the woods on earth. Except darker. And more dangerous. And without Star and Marco."

I jumped at the sound of a twig snapping and bolted. I ducked behind a tree and placed my hand over my mouth, trying to calm my breathing. I glanced around the tree and saw a group of rats sniffing at the ground. One of them looked towards where I was and I ducked back, holding my breath. I heard squeaking and the group running off, their steps fading. I let out a breath and stepped away from the tree.

Only to slip down a hill.

I tumbled all the way to the bottom, landing in a puddle of mud. I groaned and slowly got up, flinching at the pain in my knee. I looked down and saw that I scrapped it. I reached to my right to grab my stick bag, but didn't feel it. I looked and started to panic, not seeing it anywhere. I looked up and saw that it got caught on a branch, higher up on the hill. I sighed and started to climb up. But because I was covered in mud, I kept slipping. Finally, I managed to grab the stick. But the hoodie untied and all of the food fell down the hill into the mud.

"Oh come on!" I screamed, feeling more and more frustrated. I tied the hoodie around my waist and marched down the hill. I picked whatever food was wrapped up, and went on my way, carrying a bag of corn chips and a can of cream corn. I slowly walked through the woods, looking for shelter somewhere. I finally found it when I came across a hollowed out tree.

I crawled in and pressed my back against the tree, staring out at the woods. There was a loud crack of thunder and, rather quickly, rain started pouring down. I smiled a little, glad I found shelter when I did. I ate the bag of chips and managed to eat the can of cream corn. I tossed the can outside and sighed, lying down on the ground. I untied the hoodie around my waist and hugged it tightly, taking in the scent of Marco. I gagged a little but it was a little comfort.

"Mom, why didn't you tell me anything when I met you?" I asked, touching my necklace. "If you knew I was your daughter, why didn't you say anything? Why didn't you hug me? Why didn't you do anything?"

Silence was the only response I got as I fell asleep.

-Third person POV-

As the rain poured down outside of the tree that Rose was in, inside the tree something was happening. Rose slept soundly against the ground and Marco's hood, holding it tightly. The necklace around her neck remained still for a moment. Then it lit up a bright orange-yellow color. The light grew and grew until it filled the entire tree. A small orb of light flew from Rose's necklace, hovering in front of the girl for a moment. It flew straight into Rose's head and that was when Rose started to shift in her sleep. As if the dreamless sleep she had was turning into a sleep full of dreams.
