Hey guys! We're getting close to the end of season one. I'm so excited! Anyway, here's the new chapter! :D
-Rose's POV-
"Take that!" I yelled, punching Buff Frog, which knocks over Deer Bear and Three Eyed Potato baby. Ludo and his army of monsters were back, and we were kicking their butts per usual. But this time, Marco and I were placing bets. Marco bet I couldn't hit a monster with my Crystal Dagger Heart blast off the cacti.
Child's play.
"Off the cats, over the tree! Nothing but net!" I said, blasting my magic. It bounced off the catch and hit Giraffe monster in the neck.
I landed next to Marco and smirked at him, "Told you I could do it."
He pulled out a dollar bill and was about to give it to me, but then, a bunch of monsters started charging towards Marco.
"Double or nothing!" he said, "One kick, seven monsters!"
I bowed to him, allowing him to double the bet. He ran over and yelled, "hi-yah!" He kicked the monsters and they all fell like, as humans on earth call it, dominos.
"Okay, you win," I said, as Marco put his dollar bill back in his pocket. Star came running over, a big grin on her face.
"Man, nothing like fighting monsters," she said.
"A victory like this, there's only one thing to do," Marco said, "Get Chinese food!"
"Ooh, Chinese food!" Star said excited, running ahead of us, "I have no idea what it is."
I laughed and said, "You'll like it Star."
"You've had it before?" Marco asked, as we walked along.
"No, but I've read about it. And it sounds good."
He smiled, "Your always reading something."
"What can I say? I love to read."
"You know what you also love?" Star shouted over her shoulder. I felt my face heat up, and prayed silently that Star didn't say anything. Marco raised an eyebrow towards Star and asked, "What?"
"Me!" she said, "Cause I'm her sister."
I sighed, relieved. Ever since last Friday and the Blood Moon Ball night, Marco and I have been close friends. But...I don't think Marco likes me in the way I've liked him for a while now. Star is still trying to get us together, but she's doing it in a way to keep my secret safe. I appreciate her effort, but, to be honest, I don't think it'll ever happen.
"Well, here we are," said Marco, stopping in front of the Chinese restaurant. He held open the door for us, and said, "Ladies first."
"Thanks Marco!" Star said, skipping through the door. I smiled and nodded towards him, following Star. We walked in and we're lead to a table with three chairs. We ordered our food and, once it came, we all started eating. I opened the small package of chopsticks and looked at it weirdly. I broke the sticks apart and held them, wondering how to use them.
Marco started laughing, "Rose, this is how you use them." He took my hand and placed the chopsticks correctly in them, showing me how to use them. I smiled, and started eating my food. My eyes grew wide and I looked at Marco, "The book was right," I said, my mouth full of Chinese food, "Chinese food is amazing!"
Marco laughed and we all continued eating our food, Star and I enjoying our Chinese food experience. As we ate, Star swallow her food and said, "Delicious! and it's some much fun eating with these tiny wands!"
Star imitating laser blasts, making me laugh. Just then, Mrs Liao, the owner of the Chinese restaurant, placed a plate of three fortune cookies on our plates of food. Star gasped, saying, "Oh, and there's cookies too!"
"Wait Star-" I started, trying to warn her, but she ate the entire fortune cookies. She made a look of disgust and stuck her tongue out. On it, was the piece of fortune from the cookie.
"Bleh, I don't like the filling," Star said, her tongue still sticking out.
"These are fortune cookies," Marco said, "They can magically predict your future."
I gave Marco a confused look; that's not what I read about fortune cookies. Marco noticed and winked at me. It then clicked; he was messing with Star.
"What?! No way!" said Star, in awe. Marco cracked open his cookies and, as he took the fortune out of the cookie, he ate his cookie. He then read his fortune out loud, "'A friend will greet you with a smile.'"
"That's a sweet one," I said smiling. Marco gasped, and said to Star, "See? The cookies know all!"
Star looked at me in awe and said, "No it can't be." She opened another fortune cookie and read it out loud, "'Think positive and good luck will come your way.'"
Mrs. Liao walked past us, carrying a box full of fortune cookies. Star quickly got up and ran over to her. While Star was talking to her, I turned to Marco, "Is this really a smart idea? You know Star will believe in anything."
"I'm sure she'll be fine," Marco said, sounding pretty confident.
"Ten bucks I say this whole thing goes down hill," I said.
"Your on," he said, getting up and walking over to Star. "Wow, Star. Good luck did come your way."
"It did! It did!" she said, excitedly, "These are incredible!" She looked at the cookies, with a look on her face I knew all too well.
"Star?" asked Marco, looking at Star worriedly. He looked at me, and all I did was smiled and waved. I mouthed, 'Told you,' and Marco gave me a look of determination, as if he could prove me wrong. We left the restaurant and, as Star was skipping ahead in front of us, Marco turned to me.
"I want to take back that bet," he said.
"Oh no," I said, laughing, "A bet is a bet. You made it and you know your not going to win this."
"But Star is obviously taking this fortune cookie stuff too literal."
"That's your fault. I told she would and you didn't listen."
"come on Rose! At least lower the bet."
"Five bucks. Final offer," I said, stopping and extending my hand.
"Fine," he said, shaking my hand, "But I don't see why you need the money."
"You'll see," I said, as we made it back to Marco's house. We walked in, and I commented, "The deal isn't over until the end of the next two days. So, things could turn in your favor."
Marco seemed to perk up by this, and seemed to be planning of ways to change Star's mind. I rolled my eyes.
I've been with Star my whole life; things are going to go down hill very quickly.
......
How will this turn out? Sorry for the shortened chapter, but this episode mostly focuses on Ludo. I'll make sure to try and update ASAP. Hope you guys liked the chapter! :D
