Hey guys! We're finally back with Rose as the festive season rolls around. Yes, I know it's not Christmas. But it's Stump Day instead for Rose and her family. What's going to happen? Let's jump in and find out! :D

-Rose's POV-

I stood with Star by the window of the main hall, staring down at the streets below. The snow was falling and already there was several feet of snow piling high in piles. I could see the people of Mewni in the streets below, smiling and laughing. I glanced at Star and saw she was breathing on the window, fogging up the glass. She drew a smiley face in the condensation and breathed again on the glass, fogging it up again. I giggled, "Your excited."

"Of course!" Star said, turning to me. "It's Stump Day! My favorite holiday! And also our birthdays."

"YOUR birthday," I corrected. "My birthday was earlier this year. I'm still surprised Aunt Moon is still putting our birthdays together."

"Well, she kind of has too," Star said, her voiced lowered. "Mom hasn't made the official announcement about you yet. She's going to after the holidays, but we still have to act like sisters."

I nodded and wrapped an arm around Star's shoulders, "Well, even if we're just cousins, I still think of you like a sister."

"Aw," Star said, hugging me. Someone tapped their stump cup to get our attentions. We looked and I saw Uncle River standing at the front of the hall, wearing his stump hat and holding his stump cup and spoon. "Good evening, everyone. Please gather round," He said, gesturing to the area in front of him. Star rushed from me and sat down next to Marco, knocking him off of the stump seat. I walked over and helped Marco up, sitting next to him and Star. Uncle River raised his cup an gestured to a large wooden stump on a raised platform behind him.

"Today we pay thanks to the roots of our kingdom! To the stump!" Uncle River shouted. Everyone raised their stump ups, shouting, "To the Stump!"

"Yes! To the Stump! Whoo hoo!" Star cheered. I giggled and Marco gave Star a side eyed look. He looked at me and said, "She sure is excited."

"It's her favorite holiday," I commented. "That's why were wearing festive clothing."

Both Star and I were wearing matching Stump Day attire. A red dress jacket over our regular clothes, with white fluff hemming along the bottom of the jacket, the collar and cuffs. We both were wearing our red caps with a large white pompom on top. Star was wearing a white horned headband and I had a small white rose stitched into my cap. Star's mom had made these matching outfits for us and I couldn't say no to wearing it this year, even if Star and I were not technically sisters. One of my younger cousins sitting up front said, "Tell us the story of Stump Day, Uncle River."

Uncle River laughed, "You don't tell me what to do."

My cousin frowned slightly but in the next moment, Uncle River stepped back and gestured to a large pyramid model of the story of Stump Day. He looked out to everyone, saying, "Now, let me tell you the story of the first Stump Day. Centuries ago, a small band of explorers crashed their ships on Mewni. After weeks of traveling, they began to get on each other's nerves."

"Ah! Oh no!" Star whispered, grabbing my arm and shaking me. I put a hand on her arm, stopping her from shaking me. Uncle River continued, "They planned to go their separate ways, but suddenly, a blizzard struck. Blizzard! And the crew was forced to survive by huddling together around a giant tree stump to keep warm and share supplies. They forged a lasting bond that day, and decided not to split up after all. To commemorate the occasion, they carved their initials on the back of the stump, and the kingdom of Mewni was born! And that is why, each year, we come together and honor the Stump through our friendships for a full 24 hours."
