the ultimatum

Laura awkwardly sat down at the table
"so are you guys excited to see your new bedrooms?" Laura asks the twins trying to make a conversation.
"yesssss daddy says I can have a pretty princess room" avalynn claps her hands
"very pretty" Laura replies.

"oh guys you start preschool soon" Tim tells the twins.
"we get to see miss crystal?" Arlo asks and Tim sighs and shakes his head
"No, you have a new teacher called miss Avery. You get to meet new friends and you'll have a lot of fun so don't worry" Tim says reassuring the twins.

"me want to stay with you daddy" avalynn says scared.
"But daddy has to go to work baby" Tim replies.
"Has your boss arranged your hours to suit pick up times?" Laura asks Tim eating spaghetti.

"yeah he says I can just work from 8:30 until 3:45 just to ease back into work then I can increase my hours back to normal eventually" Tim explains
"That's great!" Laura smiles.
"It is..honestly I'm suprised that he was going to let me have my job back after leaving my resignation letter, my badge and guns on his desk before leaving" Tim chuckles

"Daddy has guns?!" Arlos eyes widen
"Daddy's a police officer" Tim tells the twins
"That's so cool, so you are like paw patrol?" Arlo asks curiously.
"Noo..daddy gets all nasty people and locks them up" avalynn tells arlo clapping her hands.
"Me want to be a police officer" arlo claps.

Laura smiles at the interaction "you still have a while to think about what you do baby" Tim tells arlo.

They all finish eating, the awkwardness between Laura and Tim slowly vanishes.
"Why don't you guys go finish playing with your toys yeah?" Tim asks the twin and they both nod and Tim helps them off their chairs and they toddle off.

Laura and Tim pick up the dishes "about before.." Laura starts and Tim stops her and shakes his head
"Wasn't a mistake.."tim admits.
"you just broke up with Ashley and you've had a lot on Tim..and I'm a social worker- your social worker..it's wrong and your still adjusting to the twins.." Laura shakes her head no taking the dishes into the kitchen.

"Look I know..I know..but I wasn't really even seeing Ashley- we weren't really that official..I was only with her for the twins" Tim tells Laura starting to wash the dishes
"What about your fiancé..Lucy is it?" Laura raises her eyebrows.
"I'm over her" Tim tells Laura and she sighs.
"Tim but I'm your social worker, you're moving on really quick it won't work it's not right" she explains grabbing a plate and drying it.

"look- your not my social worker anymore,  Let me take you on a date..and we can try" Tim says convincing Laura.
"Tim..you need to focus on the twins they need their dad to help them get rid of their trauma." Laura says.

"I can still focus on them, look if you don't want to be involved with me just say instead of making excuses.." Tim mutters and Laura sighs
"I'm not making excuses, and it's not that I don't want to be involved..I do you're a great attractive man..it's probably just not the right time for you" Laura says.
"let me take you for a drink next week and we will see." Tim says giving Laura a dish to dry and turning to look at her, Laura takes a few seconds to think about it.
"fine" she says
"Great!" He replies.

"what about the twins..I live up San Francisco" she replies .
"I'll have a baby sitter by next week and I'll pay for your flights" Tim shrugs
"Okay. Yes okay." She agrees.

Tim smiles brightly.
"Okay, I'm going to get the twins set up in my bedroom to go to sleep then we can finish arlos room if you're up to it?" Tim asks and Laura nods adamantly

Tim walks into the living room "come on little monsters let's get you ready for bed" Tim says softly and they both nod. Tim grabs their hands and walks them to put some pjs
On. He helps them change and he takes them into his room.

"Big bed!" avalynn claps happily
"Yes this is daddy's bed, your bedrooms are not finished so you stay here okay?" Tim explains lifting them onto the bed and tucking them into the sheets and turns the TV on and puts cartoons on for them to fall to sleep to.
"Nignt my babies" he says kissing them on the head.
"nignt daddy" they both say and Tim leaves the room.

Laura and Tim get to work getting the kids rooms sorted, they built the furniture and put their clothes away and finished painting. They put their toys in and the last finishing touches and the next thing they know it was 6AM

"woah I am so sorry I kept you awake and here all night" Tim apologises yawning.
"hey it's alright..atleast the kids rooms are finished, they look so cute"Laura smiles.
"yeah..honestly thanks I owe you one" Tim says
"your owing me by that date next week" Laura winks and Tim Laughs.
"yeah" he says.

"do you mind if I grab a coffee then hit on the road to head back home?" She asks
"Yeah of course sure! Thanks so much for the help" he says walking out of arlos room with Laura and putting the coffee machine on.

They both enjoy a coffee then Laura leaves "see you next week, tell me what day" Laura says giving Tim a hug bye at the door way.
Tim hugs her back and gives her a kiss on the cheek, "see you next week"
Then off Laura goes, he waves to her as she pulls out his drive way.

It was 7:30 Lucy wakes up cuddled into Ryan, it was their first time staying at each others houses.
"Hey" Ryan says looking down at Lucy.
Lucy smiles "hey babe" she says laying on his chest.

"ugh we have to get to work now" Lucy sighs getting up checking the time.
"yeah we do" he sits up and stretches and kisses Lucy.
"I'll put coffee machine on" ryan says getting up smiling and lucy starts to get ready.

They have a cup of coffee together before heading to work at their separate stations.

Lucy walked into the changing room and Angela was touching up her makeup
"heyyy" Angela smiles
"hiii" Lucy says happily
"Why are you so happy??" Angela chuckles and Lucy shrugs as she starts to change
"I don't know I'm just happy" she giggles.

"You got laid" Angela states and Lucy blushes and turns away
"Oh my gosh girl I'm so happy for you!! I like Ryan, he makes you so happy" Angela says running over to Lucy and bringing her into a hug.

"Thanks!" Lucy smiles hugging Angela back.
"Me you Ryan and Wesley need to go on a double date!!" Angela pulls away and claps her hands.

"Totally! I am so glad I don't have to see Tim again, honestly this is the happiest I've been in I don't know how long" Lucy says, little did they know Tim's back at work the next day.
"I am so happy for you girl, I have heard Tim's gained full custody of the twins, he's probably to wrapped up in them to even care about any of us. But I'm glad we don't have to face him" Angela says
And Lucy agrees.

They head to roll call and start their shift.

It was 9AM and both of the twins came toddling in "hello sleepy heads" Tim says softly
They both rub their eyes "hi daddy" they say and go over to the sofa and give Tim a hug.
"You two are very cuddly when you are tired" Tim says lifting them both on his knee and hugging them.

They watched tv for abit while the twins wake up properly.
"Do you guys want to see a surprise?" Tim asks and they both jump up excitedly
"Yes!!" They clap

Tim picks them both up and puts each of them on his hips and carry's them until he's outside the doors of their bedroom.

He places them on the floor.
"Okay avalynn you first, cover your eyes" he says leaning down, she covers her eyes and Tim opens the door and guides her in
"You can look now" he says and avalynn opens her eyes
"my room!! It's so beautiful" she says immediately running in and jumping on her bed

Tim giggles "I'm glad you love it baby" he says
"My turn my turn" arlo demands and Tim nods and guides him to his room and makes him shut his eyes.

"Open" Tim says
"I love it daddy!!" He says running to the toy box in the corner and starts to play with his toys, the twins were extremely happy.
