Jessica's POV
I drove home with a takeaway to make Sarah feel better. I called her on my lunch break earlier and she didn't seem herself so I wanted to surprise her with this. I opened the door and shouted that I was home and made my way to the kitchen where I saw Sarah sitting at the island with her headphones in just staring lifeless at the wall with tears falling from her eyes. I go up to her and tap her shoulder. She slightly jumps startled by my presence. She takes out her ear phones. "What's up baby?" I ask worried "Jess... I'm, I'm pregnant" she blurts out. "What?" "When I was raped, he got me pregnant and I didn't realise that I had morning sickness because I was making myself throw up" she says and cries harder. "I can't do this Jess, I can't have the baby of a monster" I hug her trying my hardest to comfort her. "Baby, you will be okay, if the baby has anything to do with you he or she will be amazing, I'm going to look after you the whole time. The baby doesn't need to know about its father, we can be mommies together, I will love the child like my own." She turns to me with a smile on her face. "You'd do that?" She asks "of course I would, we are in this together" I kiss her forehead and I get the food ready. "Ah thank you Jess I'm starving" she lets out a huff and runs her stomach.
At least she's eating properly.
She goes to bed early feeling tired and hormonal and I join her an hour later after cleaning up.
I wake up from the sound of talking. It's still quite dark, but the moonlight lights up the room enough for me to see Sarah sitting up against the headboard with her hand on her stomach. "Yes you will, you will be such a gorgeous baby won't you? And I'm going to love you no matter what, you're my baby not his. I love you sweetheart" she says gently rubbing her stomach. The fact that she is speaking to her unborn baby makes me tear up, but I sit there silently wanting her to carry on, pretending that I'm still asleep.
After a few more minutes of talking to the baby, she starts to sing to it. "Goodnight sweetheart well it's time to go goodnight sweetheart sweetheart well it's time to go. I hate to leave  you but I really must say oh goodnight sweetheart goodnight. Goodnight sweetheart well it's time to go, goodnight sweetheart well it's time to go. I hate to leave you oh I really must go goodnight sweetheart goodnight. Welllll it's 3 o clock in the morning baby I just can't do right, well, I hate to leave you baby I don't mean maybe because I love you so. Goodnight sweetheart well it's time to go." She sings the song goodnight sweetheart by The Overtones beautifully in a soft quiet voice which makes me drift back off to sleep.
