*Sarah's POV*
"Hannah?" I say as I come face to face with Jessica's daughter. "Sarah, I'm so sorry" she mumbles, clearly guilty about ignoring her mother for the past ten years. "It's okay honey" I say opening out my arms to her.
At first she's hesitant, but accepts my welcome. I can't bring myself to look in the door of Jessica's room. "So... I heard that I have a baby brother and sister" she smiles which warms my heart. She wants to try again.
"Would you like to see them?" I smile and she nods. I take her hand and lead her to the nursery.
"Ava, who's my precious baby" I say picking up my child. "This is Ava" I smile. "Can I?" She asks holding out her arms. I pass Ava to Hannah and her eyes light up with love. "She's beautiful" Hannah smiles.
Ava takes hold of Hannah's finger. "How adorable" she says in awe, not taking her eyes off Ava once. "I gave birth to Ava. Here is your baby brother, Kai" I say picking up a tiny boy. "Isn't he a cutie" I say as Hannah tickles his tummy.
"They're both so beautiful. I wish that I had been in their life from the start Sarah" she says looking me in the eye. I can tell how guilty she feels. "Do you think my mother will forgive me?" She wonders.
I honestly didn't know what to say to her. The last thing I wanted to do was give her false hope.
"At the end of the day, sweetheart, she's your mother and she loves you very much. I think that because you haven't seen each other for ten years it will be a very emotional moment for both of you but because she has lost some of her memory I'm not sure how she will react or how she will cope with the matter. I don't want you to go in there will a lot of hope, try and keep yourself grounded. Maybe if you explain why you left her she will understand. I mean, neither of us know the real reason, we just assumed and came to a conclusion ourselves."
"The thing is, it was meant to be me, my mother and my father forever, you know? A happy family. But back then I was immature I suppose but now I've come to terms with the fact that some things just don't last forever. You and my mom are meant to be, you're compatible and I see that now. I just wished I would have seen it sooner. Shura and Walker (Jessica's other two children) tried to make me listen for so long but I just wouldn't. Now I'm the outcast of the family" she says making me feel sympathetic for her.
"We will make this right Hannah, I'll make sure of it, so don't you worry" I say giving her a reassuring smile. "Would you like to stay here with the children. I need to see if your mother is okay" I say, remembering the horrible images of her dying body. She nods and I walk back to my mother.
She looks at me sadly. No no no. "Please god no" I begin to cry. "What happened!?" I ask beginning to panic again. "Sweetie, she's been taken to the OR for another surgery." My mother says. I let out a big sigh of relief. I thought she was dead.
"Aleksandra and Walker are in the waiting room. Maybe we should go and see how they're doing" she says with her arm around me. "We need to take Hannah with us, I can't bear the fact that she's losing her family." I say heading back to the nursery.
Hannah puts Ava down and follows us to the visitors room. As we approach my step children a look of confusion spreads across their faces. Shura stands up and hugs me and Walker copies. "Hannah" Shura says. "Shura, Walker, I want to apologise.." She begins but she's interrupted.
"You ignored our mother for ten years and now she could die. Do you know how distraught she was? She lost her child Hannah." She argues.
"And I've realised how stupid I was. Please, I would just like another chance..." Hannah pleads. Shura turns to Walker and turns back for face Hannah.
"I swear to God Hannah if you mess this up.." Shura begins and Hannah smothers her with a hug. "You won't regret this, I promise" I hear her whisper.
