Dinner tonight @8? I can get us into the restaurant you've been wanting to try.Aves
Yeah. I'll see you then.❣️
The call tone rings out as I make my way into the closet, before she answers and high pitched shrieks fill the speaker.
"Hold on. Derek is changing them." Abbie groans, going into Derek's bedroom and shuts the door. "Send help. They've teamed up against me to drive me insane."
"Who's the leader? Derek seems like an obvious choice but Haidyn seems to have it out for you since day one."
"Peter, actually. He likes to show up here unannounced just to rule the girls up while I nap." I hum, searching through my dresses. "Which is already impossible with supernatural hearing. Screaming and laughing must be excruciating." I cringe. I couldn't imagine having two little monsters running around all the time.
"I think it's Derek's way of dropping hints about me quitting my job. He's mentioned it before but I shut it down. If I was here with him 24/7, I'd kill him and Peter."
"What about Cora? Have you two become best friends yet?" I stop to glare at my phone, watching her roll her eyes. "Cora and I are friends, but you don't have to worry about us being best friends. She's still a little upset that I want to divorce her brother, causing them to miss her first Thanksgiving, birthday and Christmas."
"Uh.. you were under attack, kidnapped and grieving. She should be grateful you even went back to California." Abbie lays down on the bed, rolling onto her side. "She probably would be if we bothered to tell her." She shrugs. "Didn't see the point in telling them when there was nothing we could do to change it or give them that time back with her."
"That's not your fault, Abbie." I start search the rack again, cursing Sarah and Kie for taking some of them. "I'm pretty sure it is. I promised them Christmas and her birthday was meant to be split. Hell, I missed her own birthday."
"Stop! You know you didn't have a choice. You would've been there if you could've."
"I should've been there. I shouldn't have just shown up without telling Klaus or Elijah." I roll my eyes, picking out a red dress, moving over to the mirror to check it out.
"What do you need a dress for? Do you have a hot date?" She wiggles her eyebrows, making me laugh. "Yeah, kinda." I twist and turn, but decide to keep looking. "Kinda? What does that mean?"
Sighing, I prop the phone up to continue looking and tell her the story. "Rafe and I kinda got into a fight on New Years Eve. We've talked since then, but you can tell it's not the same. I'm pretty sure he's taking me out tonight to apologize."
"And if he doesn't?" I freeze, my lips pursed as I think about that. I mean, of course I thought about if he wasn't, but I didn't really consider it. If he doesn't, what does that mean for us?
"I'll take that as 'we'll see where the night goes.'. Are you at least willing to try and make it work?" I shrug, grabbing out two dresses. Holding up both, I'm just not sure which one to pick.
"Go with the navy blue. It brings out your eyes. Wear your hair down and go with some light makeup." And this is why I love her.
Hanging up with black dress, I grab my phone and make my way over to the shoes. "And I just found where my silver heels got to." She scoffs. I pick them up and hold them up to the dress.
