Avery
Today was.. unexpected. Abbie and Klaus got along and teamed up for the greater good. Elijah was making jokes with us and Abbie seemed the most relaxed today at lunch.
As relaxed as she could be with Haidyn and Hope's lives at risk and being kept God knows where. Honestly, none of us know where they are. I know they were at a motel, but after Damon was followed, they moved them. I'm not even sure if Damon and Stefan have them anymore.
I know Melissa isn't there. She had to go back to California after helping Abbie. I noticed the way Derek didn't like that, but I'm not sure if it was her not being there for Hope or the possibility of Damon being with Haidyn.
This is my life now. Completely invested in Abbie's drama, while ignoring my own. I'm invested in Rebekah's too, but her and Marcel are in a timeout right now.
He currently hates Klaus, which I think has sort of extended further into the family, excluding myself and Abbie. Rebekah is mad at him for trying to get with Cami, who also has Klaus' eye. Not that I care.
I couldn't care if Klaus got down on his knee in front of her right now and she said yes. He's allowed to do what he wants. At least it's not fucking Genevieve.
He thought I'd get jealous over that witch, but he only screwed himself in the end. I told him many years ago that I didn't trust her. It might've taken awhile, but I was right. Hayley and Hope nearly paid the price for it though.
Anyways, Rebekah and Marcel are in the off stage of their never-ending on again-off again relationship.
Abbie and Derek are.. hell.. I don't even think they know. One second they're in this honeymoon phase, doting all over each other and have this love-sick look about them.
Then sometimes they look like they don't know how to talk to each other. I've noticed it happens less when Haidyn is around or she's mentioned, but other times it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
I think my biggest question is, why would Abbie marry someone she has chemistry with but not compatible.
Abbie isn't the type to marry because the sex is good. Hell, she's not even the type to marry for convenience. If any of us were to get married to someone we love with every part of us, it would've been Abbie. Not this arrangement she's made.
"Avery," I look up to Elijah, his shoulders slumped and he has this haunted look in his eyes. "Can you walk with me?" I nod, setting my— Abbie's— book aside and following him to the courtyard.
"What's wrong?" He releases a slow breath, tucking his hands inside of his pockets. "It's Abigail. I'm afraid she may be in over her head with Dahlia." I'm about to agree when Derek rushes over to us.
"You're right. She just snapped Rebekah's neck. Marcel and I tried to stop her."
"She what?!" I shout, taking the last bit of air out of my lungs. My head spins and my heart slams against my ribcage.
Rebekah can't be dead. Why would Abbie kill her?!
"Where is she?!" Elijah demands, his whole body rigid. "Upstairs. Marcel took Rebekah to the basement." Elijah nods, as we both go to find Abbie, but halfway up, Elijah is thrown across the room and Derek's leg is snapped.
I search for who did it, when someone grabs my throat, squeezing so tight, I'm sure I'll die. I don't know how, but whoever has me means business.
When they bring me down to eye-level, I stare into Klaus' ice cold eyes. "Please.." I choke out, kicking my legs out, trying to gain the upper hand anyway I can.
