If I had learned early in life that women would've been such a headache, I would've kept mine on a tighter leash. Not that Avery ever minded a leash.. well, literal, but she cursed any restriction I enforced on her.

She was more than willing to be told what to do in the bedroom, but outside of it, she fought me every step of the way. It drove me insane but in a way I craved her resistance. The headache of arguing with her , followed by the high of her losing and doing as she was told was euphoric.

Granted, there were a few times she left me speechless and put me in my place, but I don't like to dwell on those. She wears those times like a badge and never lets me forget.

But all that changes today. When I catch her, and I will.. she'll be at mercy and have no choice to face what she's done.

My phone rings, so I grab it, reading and rereading that latest taunt she's sent me.

I heard you were still in Greece? It's a shame I got bored and left. You would've looked magnificent at sunset and even better underneath me on the beach 😏

I type out a message, then delete it. I've been following her for two months now and each time she sends me a message similar to this one.

It's not lost on me that she knows I'm tracking her and purposefully sending me in this never-ending witch hunt. She's toying with me, but much to her disliking, I'm willing to play.

Why don't you come back here and show me. We can visit all your favorite spots and end our night sharing a bed like old times.

Avery
Boring. Did you really think sharing a bed with you again would really make me flip my switch? Come on, Klaus. You know better than to try that.

No 😂 that's me telling you what I should've told you ages ago.

We both know sex together was amazing, but it had less emotion than a rock, AT BEST.

My grip on my phone tightens, as my anger reaches a new level. She's had no problems throwing all our problems back in my face these last few weeks. Some of them I didn't even realize were a problem till she said something.

Another message comes in and I can't stop from falling victim to her taunt.

Maybe instead of having Abbie help me leave you, I should've told her I wanted to give another brother a try.

Elijah would've never betrayed you, but I bet he would've shown me a few new tricks.

Kol would've been ideal. I heard he likes to inflict a little pain like you did. I guess it's like the saying 'right person, wrong time'.. I had the right family, wrong brother. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I start to type out a very long and detailed threat when Rebekah's face takes over my screen. I hit decline and go back to typing when the call appears again.

Nearly snapping the phone in half, I swipe to answer the call, putting it up to my ear. "What, Rebekah? I'm busy." I can hear her eyes roll through the phone before she huffs. "Don't be a wanker. We have bigger problems."
