Derek
"So where is the Rugrat?" Peter strolls down the stairs, cutting our conversation short. Not only has the Deadpool ended, but I'm a dad. Fuck, that still feels weird to say. The same way sitting here, showing everyone pictures of Haidyn, is.
"Abbie and Cora went shopping before her appointment. They should be back soon." I lay my phone on the table, so everyone can keep looking, as I go to stand beside him.
I've had my reservations about Peter meeting his great niece. He's proven time and time again that he can't be trusted, but Abbie insisted that she meets her entire family. I'm not sure if she actually trusts him or not, but it's a complete 180 from when she was pregnant.
"So what did you end up naming the little ankle biter?" I roll my eyes, ignoring the nicknames. "Haidyn." His face scrunches up, as he turns towards me. "You let her name the kid Haidyn?" He says her name like it tastes bad, only pissing me off.
"We both agreed on the name." I correct him, ready to text Abbie to just go back to her house and Haidyn can meet Peter when she's old enough to kick his ass.
"At least your mother had the right idea when naming her kids. Derek, Cora, Laura.. What kind of name is Haidyn Hale?!" He shakes his head in disapproval, turning his attention back to everyone still looking at pictures.
Not just on my phone though. Apparently in the last 4 days, Abbie, Cora, Melissa and I have taken enough pictures to last her a lifetime. Abbie even made a joke that there isn't a minute of her whole life undocumented.
"Her name is Haidyn Talia Hale." Peter's head jerks to me, surprise evident on his face. "She named her after Talia?" I nod, crossing my arms. "Yeah. She said her mother wasn't the greatest person and wanted her to have a strong name. We never could agree on a middle name, and then she brought that up in the hospital." I clear my throat and swallow, remembering the emotions I felt that day.
Melissa came in for the third time and asked if we had picked a middle name. We still hadn't, but that was when Abbie hit me with Talia. To me it was an instant fit, but she was already getting my last name, so I wanted Abbie to get the honorary name.
She insisted that we do that one, and explained her whole reasoning, so that's where Talia stuck.
"Maybe she's not that bad after all." Peter mumbles, shaking his head right after. Whatever. If he's starting to see that Abbie isn't the person he thought she was, then that's a start.
"I went missing for a year and nobody came looking for me?!" All our heads whip to Isaac standing in the doorway.
"Dude.. where have you been?!" Scott asks, rounding the table as Isaac gets further into the loft. "We thought you left because of.." Stiles trails off, probably thinking it's too soon to mention Allison again.
"I did, but I only planned on being gone a month, but then I was kidnapped!" Isaac hisses the last part. "Kidnapped?!" We all balk, as he nods, rounding the table to take Scott's old spot.
"Who took you?!" Lydia asks. He places his hands on the table, dropping it and shaking it. "Nobody. You've never even heard of them."
"So?! My dads the sheriff. He can find anyone." Isaac slowly looks up at him, his face deadly serious. "Trust me. You don't want to find them. They're not just some regular criminals. They're blood thirsty killers." He shoves away from the table, like that comment pissed him off.
Peter steps over to the table, amusement in his eyes. "Humor me. I tend to know all the crazies." My eyes narrow, as he gets closer to the table, so I join. "Just between us, what was their name?" Isaac shakes his head again.
