Cordelia and Cedric entered Platform 3/4 where they said their goodbyes to Cedric's parents and made promises to write often. While Cordelia was excited to return to Hogwarts, she was sad to leave Amos and Adele. The last two weeks spent with them had been the best weeks in her life. She repeatedly thanked them for taking her in, knowing in her heart that she would never be able to thank them enough. Her attention to the present moment; however, did tend to drift.

This was to be Draco's first year at Hogwarts. Before running away, she always thought she would be there for him. She had been excited to help him onto the train, to help him find his childhood friends. Before being sorted into Hufflepuff, she daydreamed of the two of them spending time in the Common Room together. Even after the sorting ceremony, she always thought that she could still look out for him and help him around the castle. But now, everything had changed, and this moment proved just how different her life turned out to be. She was grateful for her fresh start, and she was truly happy with where she was now. But a part of her mourned what she could have had with her brother.

While saying her goodbyes and walking to the train with Cedric, Cordelia kept looking around. She wondered if she would see her brother and parents. She didn't know what would happen if she did see them. A lump of anxiety rose in her chest and the thought of it. And yet, another part of her wanted at least one glimpse of her mother and brother. To both her dismay and relief, she didn't see any sign of them on the platform.

The Hufflepuffs walked down the train to their usual compartment where Kiana, Fred, George, and Lee were already waiting for them. Cedric walked in without hesitation, not noticing that Cordelia had stopped just outside the compartment door. She stood frozen as she came face to face with a familiar blonde first year boy who stopped and looked back at her.

The siblings stood in the train corridor and stared at each other for a few moments before Cordelia broke the silence, "Dray, I -."

Cordelia was interrupted by her brother holding his hand up. She knew too well what that gesture meant. Her father used it all of the time when he wanted people to stop talking. Cordelia felt a pang in her chest at the thought of her brother turning into a version of her father.

"Father blasted you off the family tree and cleared out your bedroom," said Draco, in an emotionless tone. "Pictures of you were removed, but I have a feeling that mother is hiding them. Mr. Mucliber broke off his betrothal with you, which is good. I really didn't want you to marry that creepy man."

Draco had turned to leave without giving his sister time to respond. This was hard on him too. He felt abandoned by his sister, but he still cared for her and it broke his heart to let her go like this. He only made it a few steps before he was stopped when his sister called his name.
