Cordelia Lyra Malfoy had always been different from the rest of her family. Her family were blood-supremacists who tried to teach their views to their children. Cordelia never believed with their views and would be punished for it.

It was now late October, and Hogwarts was completely different from what it used to be. Umbridge was appointed High Inquisitor after she and Professor McGonagall were seen having an argument in the corridor. Her power within the castle grew with each passing day, and she now controlled every aspect of the students' lives. Cordelia only received three more detentions after the first one. All of them had been earned after losing her patience with the professor. Of course, Fred was always waiting in their empty classroom, ready to clean and bandage her hand. While this helped the etching on her hand heal, it still left a slight scar, which she wore with pride.
One day, Hermione walked into the library in search of Cordelia. She found the Hufflepuff sitting with Anthony and two other seventh years from Slytherin and Ravenclaw, all of whom were studying for potions.
"You really love him... Fred?" Hermione overheard Anthony ask Cordelia while the other two classmates were in their own conversation over an essay. She stopped to listen to Cordelia's answer.
Cordelia's fingers fiddled with her daisy necklace and smiled. "I really do. I love him for all that he is, and all that he isn't... His strengths as well as his flaws. It's as if he is a part of me... I guess I'm not sure how to explain it, but I guess that's love."
Hermione smiled to herself before she continued to approach the table. When she did reach the table, she received a warm smile from Cordelia while the other three students simply looked at her expressionless.
"Hi Cordi, do you think we can speak in private for a moment?" she asked, interrupting Anthony's response to Cordelia's answer.
Cordelia smiled and nodded. "I'll be back in a moment," she told the others at the table, who nodded and went back to their work.
"What are you doing at Hogsmeade this weekend?" Hermione asked once they were behind a shelf.
"Oh, the usual... Zonko's and Honeydukes with the boys and Kiana, butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks," Cordelia replied, shrugging her shoulders.
Hermione smiled and nodded. "Well, would you lot be able to squeeze in a meeting at the Hog's Head at around 3pm?"
"Yeah, that could work... What is this about, 'Mione?" Cordelia asked with curiosity.
"Well you see... we all know how Umbridge isn't teaching anything," Hermione started to explain. "So I convinced Harry to teach us how to protect ourselves. Anyone who is interested is meeting to talk about it."
"That's brilliant!" Cordelia praised the younger witch. "Of course we'll be there!"
"Great!" said Hermione, with a smile. "Invite whoever you think is interested. We want to keep it quiet, but also have anyone who wants to learn... Erm, there's one more thing... You helped Cedric prepare for the tasks last year, right?"
