Cordelia Lyra Malfoy had always been different from the rest of her family. Her family were blood-supremacists who tried to teach their views to their children. Cordelia never believed with their views and would be punished for it.

The Holidays had passed and January faded into February. Things were going well for Cordelia: She spent time with her friends and was studying hard. Even though she still didn't know what she wanted to do with her future, she was enjoying living in the moment. At any rate, worrying about the future seemed silly since she was more worried about Cedric and the tournament.
Her relationship with Fred was going strong, and everyone who knew them knew they were together. People thought they were an adorable couple, even if George and their other friends pretended to find their affections gross. Kiana and Lee had officially started dating after a few dates, and Cedric started dating Cho. George and Angelina were unofficial with an on-again-off-again relationship, unwilling to settle down, but they were happy.
The one thing that wasn't going well for Cordelia was getting to know Cho. Cedric was amazing at dividing his time between his sister and girlfriend, and Cordelia was thankful that he did, but she wanted to get to know the girl who her brother had fallen for. Cho, on the other hand, never seemed to want to spend time with Cordelia or any of Cedric's friends. Cho would often have an excuse when she would be invited to sit with them during meals or spending time with them outside of classes. When she did join them, her attention was always on Cedric, and Cordelia's attempts to interact with her would often go ignored. Cordelia tried to convince herself that Cho was just shy and that she would open up eventually, but she couldn't shake the feeling that Cho didn't like her.

On the night before the second task, Cordelia was in the Hufflepuff Common Room with Cedric and Kiana. The three Hufflepuffs were going over everything in order to prepare Cedric for his task, pouring over multiple books full of spells and charms.
"Okay, so we know something will be taken from you and you will have to breathe underwater for at least an hour. You know the bubble-head charm so that should work," said Cordelia, her comment directed at Cedric as she thought out loud.
"It was brilliant that Moody gave you the tip to take a bath with the egg," Kiana commented. "I don't know if we would have figured it out in time without that hint."
"I wonder why he broke the rules to tell you, though," Cordelia wondered. "Thank you for telling Harry, by the way."
Cedric shrugged. "Well, he told me about the dragons. It only seemed fair that I tell him about the water. I don't think he had figured it out yet."
The conversation was interrupted when Professor Sprout walked into the common room. The three teens looked at each other in concern. The professors never entered the Common Rooms or dorms, especially not this late at night, unless it was for something important.
"Miss Diggory, I need you to come with me to Professor Dumbledore's office," Sprout explained.
"Is everything alright? Am I in trouble?" Cordelia asked as she started to nervously fidget with her charm bracelet.
