The next two days following the fight between Fred and Cordelia was awkward for everyone in the house. Fred went about his days as usual, but was grumpy and unusually quiet, and didn't speak unless spoken to. He seemed to be on edge, and would snap at anyone for the smallest things. Everyone walked on eggshells around him.

Cordelia, on the other hand, refused to leave her bedroom. She sat on her bed, wearing a pair of shorts and one of Cedric's old t-shirts, playing sad songs on her Ukulele while crying. Molly brought her food during meal times, trying to convince her to eat, which she refused. Hermione and Ginny tried to comfort her, but she would kick them out of the room. She only allowed Sirius to stay when he turned into his dog form and layed next to her on the bed.

Tonks was worried for her roommate when she had gotten home late from work the night before and had heard sniffles coming from Cordelia's bed. She had checked on the witch when they both woke up late that morning, but didn't get a response from her. Remus had filled Tonks in on everything that happened while she was at work, causing the Metamorphmagus to feel sympathy for her cousin.

On the second day, Cordelia ventured out of her room for meals but didn't talk to anyone other than the occasional pleasantries with Sirius. She also didn't eat much, only taking a small portion of food and pushing Molly's hands away when the mother tried to pile food on her plate. She and Fred sat far away from each other and refused to look in each other's direction. Everyone felt the awkward tension. George and Sirius attempted to ease the tension with jokes, but the atmosphere didn't change until one of them left the room.

"Well, I'm going to work," Tonks told the girl on the third afternoon. "I'm working the nightshift, so I won't be home until morning... I know you don't want to talk about it, but please talk to Sirius if you need anything."

Cordelia nodded as Tonks left the room, leaving the door slightly cracked open. Her fingers brushed the cords of her Ukulele once again as she started to play "Someone You Loved" while singing the lyrics.

Fred stood and listened on the other side of the door, trying to get enough courage to walk in. Every note she played, every word she sang, felt like a knife piercing his heart.

"You know, you'll need to speak to her eventually," Sirius' voice startled Fred, causing him to flinch a little. "You can't blame her for what happened in the past, Fred. It wasn't her fault. Arranged marriages at a young age is very common in old pure-blood families. Life in a family such as that is tough. It was forced on her and she took a major leap in order to change it."

"What major leap?" Fred asked, looking at the door.

"Turning her back on her family. Trust me, it isn't an easy thing to do. Even with the mental and physical abuse, turning your back on what you grow up with is extremely difficult... Leaving her brother behind; I'm sure she has guilt for leaving her brother," Sirius explained.
