Cordelia Lyra Malfoy had always been different from the rest of her family. Her family were blood-supremacists who tried to teach their views to their children. Cordelia never believed with their views and would be punished for it.

The Hufflepuffs were throwing a party for Cedric in the Common Room to celebrate his win and it was in full swing. All of the Hufflepuffs were invited, as well as Cho and her friends. A lot of people were dancing. Others were gathered in various places around the large room, talking and laughing. The tables were full of food and drinks, Cordelia's "CONGRATULATIONS, CEDRIC" banner from earlier was hung once again, and music was blaring.
Kiana and Cordelia danced together for a few songs before they left the dance area to get a butterbeer, thirsty from the dancing mixed with the heat of the room. Cedric was talking to some of his guy friends on a couch while Cho and her friends were getting food from one of the tables.
"Hi, Cho. How are you?" asked Cordelia, greeting the Ravenclaws.
"I'm fine," Cho responded in a voice that was barely a whisper. Mariatta Edgecomb, Cho's best friend, scoffed.
"You know, just because she is dating Cedric, doesn't mean you two need to be friends," she said in an unpleasant tone.
"She never said they did," Kiana argued in confusion and annoyance.
"Ana, it's fine," said Cordelia as she placed a hand on Kiana's arm, trying to calm her best friend.
"No, it's not fine. You have been nothing but polite and welcoming towards Cho and they return the favor by treating you like rubbish," explained Kiana, losing her patience with the Ravenclaws.
"Where is Fred, Cordelia? Why isn't he here?" asked Marietta, disdain in her voice.
"He's busy throwing a party for Harry. He planned on coming later. Why does he have anything to do with this?" she answered with a question. Cordelia was now starting to lose her patience as well. Marietta rolled her eyes.
"I just wonder what he thinks of yours and Cedric's... Um, relationship," she responded, her voice laced with accusation.
"He's fine with Cedric. Why wouldn't he be okay with my brother?" Cordelia asked.
"Adoptive brother," Marietta spat venomously.
Cordelia stood there dumbfounded, realization hitting her like a ton of bricks. Everything now made sense in this moment: Cho's avoidance of her, the looks she sometimes received from Cho's friends, the cold responses received whenever she addresses the Ravenclaw. She thought Cho was just shy, and that still may be true, but she finally understood that Cho was jealous of Cordelia, and possibly threatened by her. There was no reason for it, of course, but it was the only logical explanation.
Cordelia's demeanor changed as she looked at the girl with sympathy. Her shoulders slumped down and her face softened as she looked at the girl with pity.
