One day in May, Dumbledore's Army was learning to cast a Patronus, and Cordelia was struggling to conjure anything. Every time she thought of a happy memory, her mind was plagued with thoughts of Cedric. The memory would start off nice, but then it would remind her of seeing his lifeless body on the Quidditch pitch. Cordelia thought she was over his death, but she learned that grief comes in waves. Just like the waves of the ocean, it goes away but comes back when you least expect it to. Furthermore, when she tried to not think about Cedric, her mind went to the past childhood trauma. The scars on her back itched at the thought of the beatings she received at the hands of Lucius Malfoy.

Cordelia watched as Luna had no trouble summoning her Patronus, conjuring it on the second try as a hare danced around her. She looked across the room and saw Anthony produce a large bear. She had not spoken to Anthony since their argument in potions class. They avoided one another to the point of switching partners. She now worked with a Slytherin boy who's name she learned was Jonathan.

Kiana and Lee also both produced their Patronus, a tiger and a fox terrier dancing around each other. Soon, Fred and George produced identical looking Magpies that were now flying in the air together.

Codelia gave them a proud smile before returning to her practice. She attempted the charm again, only for a blue mist to appear from her wand.

"It's hopeless," Cordelia muttered to herself, lowering her wand and bowing her head in defeat. Her body gave a little jump when she felt a hand being placed on her shoulder. She tilted her head up to see Harry smiling encouragingly at her.

"Don't give up yet," said Harry. "I know you're missing Cedric right now... But you can't let it get to you. Just close your eyes and think of the happiest, most powerful memory you have. Make it so powerful that his death can't tarnish it."

Cordelia nodded and took a deep breath, closing her eyes as Harry's hand remained on her shoulder. She searched her memories until one appeared in fragments in her mind:

"I've been adopted! I'm officially a Diggory!" She yelled with a large grin spread upon her lips.

Cedric rushed to embrace the girl, who giggled when he picked her up and spun her around.

"I legally changed my last name to Diggory," Cordelia explained.

Cedric smiled even more, embracing her again. "I can't believe you're finally my sister, officially!"

Cordelia opened her eyes and gasped before closing them again when another memory appeared:

Cordelia took the box out of Fred's outstretched hand and opened the attached lid, revealing a ring with a simple gold band with a small diamond-like stone.
