We continue with some talk about what has been going on in school when someone announced to the room "Dinner is served if you would follow me to the dining room." The two of us stood up from the couch waiting to be led into the dining room.
I see Mr. Lockwood offer his arm to his wife and Dad comes over and offers his arm to Jen "Miss. Lockwood, may I please have the honor to accompany you to dinner?" Jen smiles and takes Dad's arm as he winks at me.
"Thank you Mr. Blakemore I would love to" Jen is guided by my father to dinner, and I follow behind when a hand grabs my arm stopping me in my tracks and I turn around to look at Chase.
"Savannah, I know we started off on the wrong foot in History class and I'm sorry about that."
I pull my arm out of his grasp "Chase look what happened in History class was just an obvious misunderstanding it's what your girlfriend has been saying about me all day I am not so forgiving."
"I can't apologize for Candace's behavior, but I can for mine and to make it up please," He offers me his arm "Let me escort you to dinner tonight."
I take his arm "It's a start but not all is forgiven."
Chase leads me to the dining room seating me beside himself as Jen is opposite me sitting next to Dad. Chase pulls out my chair for me to take a seat and pushes the chair into the table once I was sat down.
After Chase saw me drape my napkin over my lap, he took his seat at the table in between me and his mother. I take a sip out of my glass as Mr. Lockwood clinks his glass and stands up from his seat.
"Before dinner is presented, I would like to make a toast," We all raise our glasses "To our special guests tonight we would like to welcome you to our family and for joining us here tonight we are grateful for your company thank you," We all take a sip as Mr. Lockwood ends his toast and sits back down.
The chef and six waiters now join us in the room to serve us our meal and from what I believe is a three-course hope I'm hungry enough I can eat all the food. Small talk is going on around the table as a plate was placed in front of me.
I looked at the food to see the starter is roasted stuffed mushrooms with spinach and tomatoes. Taking a bite of the stuffing and oh my god it tastes amazing. The blend of onions and garlic with seed mix and the ricotta cheese is superb. With a hint of lemon, this dish could not taste any better. The mushroom is roasted to perfection and a decent size too, I could eat this dish for a living it's that good.
The spinach and the tomatoes with the stuffing now that would make one hell of a salad. I think I will make that for Dad and me one weekend. When we were finished with our starters the servers come and take away our plates before presenting us with our main course.
Our main course is presented to us and it's a beef Wellington with steamed asparagus and potatoes. The smell of the food in front of me is mouthwateringly good.
Cutting into the beef Wellington the pastry crumbled and the beef cooked medium well it looked amazing. Taking a bite and tasting the juices I know the flavors have been kept inside whilst it was cooking.
"Savannah, Jen tells us you're a musician," Mrs. Lockwood says.
I nod finishing off my mouthful "Yes ma'am I can play a majority of instruments, but I do prefer the guitar and piano." Mrs. Lockwood raises her eyebrows at me whilst she's drinking her drink when I say I can play the piano.
"Really that's very impressive for a young lady like yourself." I feel myself blush with her comment on my musical ability. "I'm classically trained in piano and violin," Mrs. Lockwood tells me. I could tell she's got musical talent. I can almost see the string burns on her fingers and how she rests her hands you can see she can play piano.
"I would love to play a piece with you one day Mrs. Lockwood I love playing instruments with other musicians."
"That would be wonderful now I have a reason to start playing again." I see Mr. Lockwood look at his wife and smile at her then winks at me and I can see that Mrs. Lockwood has gained an extra spark in her eyes with my offer to play with her one day.
Chase leans in towards me and whispers in my ear "Why did my dad just wink at you?" I look at Chase smirking and I brush my nose at him. He and everyone else will find out soon enough. I see Jen looking at me from across the table with a huge smile on her face.
"Hey Jen, have you thought much about our project as I've made a start on some research."
Jen nods at me taking a bite out of her asparagus "Yeah Daddy has a book in the study on European History we can look at."
"Oh, that's great I'll bring what I've got round tomorrow, and we can study if that's okay of course." We both look at Mr. Lockwood, Jen giving her dad the puppy dog pout.
"Of course, you can Savannah you are welcome round any time you like."
"Thank you, Mr. Lockwood, that's mighty kind of you, sir." Wow, that is the first time my accent has been noticeable, and I did it next to Chase and I am looking at that smirk on his face as he looks at me. "What?"
"Oh, nothing I just like the sound of your voice when you talk southern." Oh, be still my beating heart I think I'm falling for a guy I can't be with.
Finishing off my main course I was starting to feel full as long as the desert is not brownies, I'll be fine. "For your dessert tonight, I have made a double chocolate brownie one slice is milk chocolate and your second slice is white chocolate topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream," As the chef announced our desert the plate was placed in front of me, and I swear I was going to die.
