Wow. Chase has sent me the most beautiful arrangement of Calla Lilies I have ever seen. All just to wish me luck on my first day at work. Wow. That is my romantic moment without him even being here to see my reaction or even trying to impress me. Walking into the back with the flowers Jen whistles at them and then looks at me.
"Wow, they are beautiful do you know who sent them?"
I look at Jen with a huge smile on my face. "Chase sent them."
Jen gasps. "What! No way would Chase have sent them. They are too gorgeous to be sent by my brother." I give Jen the card so she can read it herself and her jaw drops. "Damn, I have to give him more credit these are beautiful." I couldn't agree more with her if only I had his number, I could text him to say thank you.
The rest of my shift flew by. I never thought my first day would be this much fun and so eventful. Lucas coming in and asking Selena out on a date. From what she told me is going to be tonight and she wants me and Jen to go round her place to help her get ready, as she is a bag of nerves. And with me receiving my favorite flower in so many colors too, my heart feels like it has grown five sizes just for Chase with this gesture.
We arranged what time to be at Selena's house for to help get her ready before we all headed home. Driving home was a little challenging with the flowers as they look so delicate, I was afraid to turn and break in case I ruined them. Once I got home, I came through the door and my dad scared me.
"Hey, sweetpea what do you have there?"
"Oh, hey there Dad I had a delivery at the café today during my shift."
"I can see that, they look beautiful. Who sent them?" Just as I was going to answer Dad the doorbell rang. I placed the flowers down on the table that's in the middle of the grand entrance to answer the door.
I open the door to see someone I wasn't expecting to see. "Chase!"
"Hi, Savannah."
"What are you doing here?"
"Well, I came to see if you liked your flowers." We both look over my shoulder to the table where the flowers are beautifully displayed, and I turned back around to look at him. Chase has a dreamy dazzling smile on his face as he looks at me and I can't resist but smile back at him.
"I don't like them, Chase." The smile from his face dropped. He tried to turn around to walk away but I grabbed his arm stopping him and turning him back to look at me. "I love them, they are so beautiful thank you so much." The smile came back on his face and that is the smile he only gives me as it's the only smile he gives that I return on instinct.
"Well, then I'm happy to hear that just please don't scare me like that again I thought I fucked up again." Dad walks passed to go upstairs when he heard Chase cuss and gave him a look to scare the boys away. "Sorry sir." Dad nodded and continued with where he was going.
"Oh, no Chase I'm sorry. No, you didn't fuck up this time I just did that's all on me. I was gonna thank you in person for them but no need to now that you're here, so yet again thank you so much, Chase."
"You're welcome and I think I'm about to surprise you again."
"Again how?"
Chase presents me with a beautiful red plant from behind his back. It wasn't until it was in my hand that I noticed what it was.
"A red Orchid?"
"The rarest and the most beautiful out of all the colors, and I did learn one thing about this plant."
"You have? And what's that?"
"Did you know that each flower and plant had a meaning behind them?"
"I did know that, but I never learned what they were."
"Well, if you would like I could tell you."
I step aside to let him in, "Why don't you come on in and I can get us a couple of drinks, and you can tell me what you have learned."
"I would love to thank you." Chase comes into the grand entrance, and I shut the door behind us.
"Follow me into the kitchen and I can get us some sodas, and we can sit by the pool and talk if you would like?"
"Sounds great yeah. Please lead the way." I lead Chase towards the kitchen as he is looking around the house. When we reach the kitchen, I place the Orchid on the breakfast bar, and I turn around to ask Chase.
"What soda would you like we have Pepsi, Gatorade, Fanta, Sprite, or Cheerwine."
"I've never had a Cheerwine before and I'm intrigued to try something new."
"Oh, it's one of my favorites, I love a cherry-flavored soft drink." I go into the fridge and fetch us our drinks and pop open the bottles and hand it over to Chase. "Especially when it comes from North Carolina."
We both tap our bottles together and take a sip. "Man, this is a killer drink I should ask my mom if she can find some and get it in."
"Now you can see why I like this drink so much." I giggle softly at Chase as he looks at me and gives me that special smile again.
"I like that sound."
"What sound?"
"Your laughter."
I feel at this very second with Chase looking at me and saying he likes the sound of my laugh my cheeks feel like they are on fire. I cough to clear my throat.
"Shall we go outside so you can tell me about the meaning behind the flowers?"
"Yeah, sure I'll be right behind you." We walk outside together and take a seat on the sun loungers poolside.
