My first shift at work is going smoothly. I'm impressing Jen throughout my training today with my waitressing skills. We had a brief discussion about my previous experience at the diner in North Carolina, and Jen showed me how the till worked and told me the table number layout, I was serving tables like I have worked here my entire life.
It was coming close to my lunch break and just before I clocked out for lunch Lucas came in with Chase not far behind him. Whilst I am standing at the service bar Lucas speaks to the host, and she points out Selena to him. Jen comes and stands next to me and links her arm through mine as we watch on in admiration of what is going on. Lucas approaches Selena slowly and he looks behind him to look at Chase. Chase nods at him and Lucas nods back. I don't know what that was about, but it must have been something encouraging.
"Selena?" Lucas looks like he's about to throw up, as Selena turns around and looks at him.
"Lucas! Hi." Lucas presents Selena with a single white Rose tied with ribbon from behind his back.
"Oh my god it's beautiful Lucas," she smells the delicate flower and smiles at him. "It's beautiful thank you so much, but I don't understand?"
"Selena, I have come here to ask you a couple of questions." Lucas takes hold of Selena's empty hand. "I, first of all, would like to ask you if, you would be my date to the Christmasqurade Ball?"
It felt like an eternity just waiting to hear her answer. I don't think I can hold my breath much longer.
Selena nods at Lucas. "Yes, Lucas I would love to be your date to the Christmasqurade Ball." Selena hugged Lucas and he left a sweet, soft kiss on her cheek.
"There's also something else I would like to ask you if I may?"
"What is it?"
"I would like to ask you out on a date. I think you're beautiful, sassy, inspirational, and one hell of a sexy Latina. I would like to get the know you better if you let me." Lucas takes hold of Selena's free hand, "Selena, would you like to go out with me?"
My breath catches in the back of my throat just waiting for her to answer. Jen squeezes my arm a little tighter. Chase walks over to the service bar to stand with us. Jen grabs hold of his hand, and I see she is squeezing it so tight. I can see the whiteness of her knuckles. But Chase doesn't seem to be in pain with it I guess he's much stronger than I thought or he's hiding it well.
"Lucas you have no idea how long I have dreamt of the day you ask me out on a date. I have had a crush on you ever since you transferred to our school junior year. I have dreamt and fantasized about this moment right now for years. And I would be stupid if I turned you down. So, my answer is yes."
Oh, thank God. I can finally breathe again, and I can also feel my arm as Jen is now hugging Chase both with smiles on their faces. I look back at Lucas and Selena they are now embracing with smiles on their faces too. Everyone in the café claps for them. It's almost like a marriage proposal happened in here with how happy everyone is.
Don't get me wrong what Lucas did was romantic and I am happy for them both. But I hate to admit I am a little jealous. I would love to have a romantic moment just like Selena and Lucas one day.
Selena and Lucas had a mini lunch date during her break which I thought was sweet I think that's a sweet start to a beautiful relationship. Especially when they are both good-looking people, they do make a beautiful couple.
Chase says bye to us and leaves after he ordered a coffee and drank it at the service bar with us. Just as I clocked out for my lunch break, I saw a delivery guy bring in a huge bouquet of flowers into the café. The delivery guy asked the host Julie for someone, and she left her post and approached me.
"Savannah, there's a delivery for you at the front and if I was you, I'd come and collect them." Surely, she must be mistaken they can't be for me. Could they be?
"Okay, I'll be right there." Julie turned around and went back to her post in front of the house, and I followed a few steps behind her. I am now standing in front of the delivery guy as he hands me a huge colorful bouquet of Calla Lilies.
"Thank you so much, do you know who they are from?"
"I don't know that detail Miss, all I know is there's a card so maybe the sender is on there." He starts to leave and as he gets to the door he turns around and looks at me. "Have a good day Miss."
I look at the flowers and I just can't believe how beautiful they are, and they are my favorite flower too. I'm speechless, and I think I may cry. I may have just had my romantic moment without knowing who sent the flowers. Even though I do have my suspicions. Picking up the card from the bouquet I read it.

You told me that your favorite flower was Calla Lilies. And I want to wish you luck on your first day at your new job. I know you will flourish just like you did from the first day I met you.
