Checking the time, I see it's getting late so I help Dad wake Jen up and I help her up into her room so she can go back to sleep. One thing I have learned about my sister is never wake her up and leave her to her own devices as she is a zombie, and she can be a lethal bitch when she's in that mode.
Once she is sat on her bed, I start to leave but she stops me by grabbing my arm and makes me turn around to look at her. "What's up, Jen?"
"Chase, I know I'm half asleep and I know you won't take anything I say right now serious but I'm gonna say it anyway." She stands up, grabs her PJs, and heads towards her bathroom to get changed, leaving the door slightly ajar so I can hear what she is saying. "I can see how happy this mystery girl is making you, and that you asked her to be your date to the Christmaquarde Ball, I'm only wanting to say please be careful and don't scorch yourself for jumping into the fire before you're certain on how you feel."
"I hear what you're saying Jen and trust me when I say this, I am looking at this with wide eyes and a clear head, I am not going to make the same mistakes of my past. Dream deserves better than that. Part of me feels like she deserves better than me but I'm too selfish to let her go without a fighting chance."
Jen walks out the bathroom changed, clean-faced and her hair brushed out from her updo, as she climbs into bed, she looks at me with her questionable look. "What are you trying to say?"
I sit on the edge of her bed and squeezes her hand and speak my truth, the truth that I feel is right. "Other than you, I feel like she knows the real me without knowing who I am." I look and smile at Jen as she returns my smile. "I better let you get back to sleep I'll drive us to school tomorrow, good night sis."
"Night bro." I stand up from her bed, leave her room, head to mine, and call it a night. But I know I won't get much sleep as something deep down is telling me I know who Dream really is. If I follow my gut instinct on who it is I would have to say it's Savannah. But there is something else in me that thinks it might be Candace playing an evil trick on me. If it, is I could ruin her, and she knows it. I'm not a vicious prick when it comes to revenge, but I will if necessary. People know not to mess with me when I'm in that head space. I just hope my gut is right.
