It's now morning and I have a date with Chase today. Checking the time on my phone I lean across my nightstand it lights up I see it says 07:25 and I see I also have a text from Chase that he sent twenty minutes ago.
Chase: Good morning my beautiful Savannah. Today is a beautiful day to take you out on our first official date. Dress comfortably it will be fun I promise you will enjoy it. I can't wait to see you. Not much longer to wait, see you soon beautiful. ILY xx.
Savannah: Good morning to you too handsome. I can't wait to see you in a couple of hours, and I can't wait to see what the day brings us. ILY x.
Chase: Just the one x?
Savannah: LOL I'll make it up to you in person whilst out on our date.
Chase: Promise?
Savannah: I promise, and I'll even put interest on it too. Just for you.
Chase: I'll take it. See you soon sweetheart, I'm counting down the minutes.
Savannah: Can't wait. See you soon.
First thing in the morning texts between your boyfriend can certainly put a smile on anybody's face. But the fact that it's Chase messaging me first thing in the morning and nobody else makes me feel all giddy inside. Checking the time on my phone I see fifteen minutes has passed. I think it's time I start getting myself ready for this date.
While in the shower I buff, polish and shave everywhere possible. And I do mean everything. With how last night almost ended today could end up the same way. I have no idea what he has planned for today, but he did say to dress comfortably so surely, it's nothing too dramatic. Could it? Should I text Jen and see if she knows what he has planned or not? I just don't know what to think today.
I decide against it and just let it go with the flow. If he wants to surprise me, I should let him. Thinking of what to wear today with Chase saying comfortable what is more comfortable for a country girl like myself than jeans, boots, a plain tank top with a flannel shirt tied round the waist. Tying my hair back I decide to braid it, so it doesn't get too in my face with whatever we are doing today. I also keep my makeup light and simple with just a little blusher, a light coating of mascara, and a nude shade lip gloss.
Giving myself a final look in the mirror, this is the best I probably can get this morning. I grab my phone and some cash and my keys and put them in my pocket before leaving my bedroom. As I walk down the stairs, I hear music playing in the kitchen. Is that my dad singing along to whatever is playing? In eighteen years, this is the first time I have ever heard my dad sing. He doesn't sound too bad in all honesty; I wonder if I got my music talent from him.
The closer to the kitchen I got I recognized the decade of music he is listening to. When my dad is happy, and I mean really happy he always listens to 70's music. Getting to the kitchen I see my dad singing and dancing around the stove frying bacon listening to The Drifters 'Kissin' In The Back Row.' Smiling to myself just observing how happy he is makes me happy. I've not seen him this happy in years, I think the last time he played 70's music my mom was alive. I don't know why I feel slightly guilty that he's found happiness again since mom has passed. She should be here to enjoy it with us too.
Walking around and sitting at the breakfast bar watching how happy he is while Toni pours me some orange juice. Thanking her I take a sip while watching my dad. He then spots me sat at the breakfast bar and comes round, takes hold of my hand, and lets me stand up. What I didn't expect was for him to take me into his arms and dances around the kitchen with me whilst singing. I start to sing along with dad and we both were having fun together and forgetting where we are and what we were doing.
It wasn't until Toni coughed that got our attention. "Maxwell, Savannah, Mr. Lockwood is here."
Looking at each other dad asks, "Which one?" Toni steps aside and there is Chase, and he walks in with the biggest smile on his face. He stood in the doorway for a moment wearing a grey t-shirt under a black short sleeved shirt, some snug fitting jeans, and white sneakers. "Oh, Chase good morning son excuse us we were just goofing around. Would you like some breakfast?"
"I would love some sir, I'm sorry for intruding so early I got too excited and impatient to see Savannah this morning," he walks over to the breakfast bar to take a seat, and he looks at me and gives me his dazzling smile and wink.
Dad walks back over to the stove to finish preparing breakfast, and he turns the music down on the echo. I grab the jug of juice from the fridge and a glass from the cabinet and pour Chase a glass then we both take a seat at the breakfast bar. "How do you take your eggs son?"
"However, you make them is good with me sir," Dad nods and busies himself finishing off cooking breakfast. "I hope you didn't mind my early morning intrusion Mr. Blakemoore," Chase asks and takes a sip of his orange juice.
"Not at all Chase I think I went a little crazy with breakfast this morning anyways so it's good that you're here with us," Dad finishes frying the bacon and plates it and gets on with making enough eggs for the four of us.
"Is there anything I can help you out with Dad?"
"I'm all good baby girl breakfast is done now anyway," Dad finishes plating the eggs and puts everything on the table for us to help ourselves. I grab enough plates from the cupboard and bring them over for us to plate up our breakfast.
