Chase P.O.V
After logging off from the chat I start to browse the net to read up about this movie that Dream was talking about. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Jen walking passed."Hey Jen, can you help me out a sec?"
"Sure, what's up?"
"I've just rented a movie on Prime and wanted to see if Mom would like to watch it with me."
"Seriously! A movie with Mom! What movie?"
"Well, um this girl who I'm talking to has suggested to watch her favorite movie. The movie is The Lost Valentine. Have you heard of it or even seen it?"
"I've heard of it yeah but not seen it. Can I join you and Mom in watching it when you do?"
"Yeah, I'd like that. All I got to do is find the read up about it and ask Mom if she wants to watch it with us."
"Have you tried this site?" she leans over me and types in the website she was talking about.
"Here it is we can buy it now and watch it instantly."
"I've already rented it from Prime thanks Jen, but do you think we could watch it in the family room tonight?"
"Yeah of course let's ask Mom if she wants to watch it after dinner."
"Sounds like a plan let's go I'm starving." I close my laptop down and follow behind my sister to the dining room smelling something delicious I can't quite work out what it is. Just as we get to the bottom of the stairs my sister turns to me with an equitizing look on her face.
"Hey, Chase who's the girl you were talking to?"
"That's the thing I don't know who she is I only know her online username. I met her on the Berkeley chat room. And I know is she goes to our school. That's it."
"Oh, that is quite romantic and very mysterious."
"Mysterious my thoughts exactly but the romantic part, do you really think so?" She shrugs her shoulders before her answer.
"You can have your moments, like the flowers you got for Sav that was romantic."
"Gee thanks, sis." We walk into the dining room to see mom setting the table. "Hey, Mom would you like some help setting the table?" She looks up from what she was doing and smiles at me.
"Thank you, Chase, yes please could you put the plates out for me please while I finish with the cutlery."
"No problem, Mom." I help her finish setting the table as Jen strides into the kitchen to help Dad bring in dinner. Once everything is presented on the table, we take our seats and help ourselves to food.
During dinner, small, polite conversations were happening around us. We are talking about anything from work at the office, new designs for Mom's boutique, and the winter formal. Jen has been non-stop talking about the winter formal since she and her friends started organizing the dance. It can be sometimes annoying, but I am not telling her that I have a date for the dance just yet.
Once dinner is finished and I helped Mom clear the table and wash the dishes this is the best time to ask her if she would like to watch the movie Dream recommended. While loading up the dishwasher I ask her.
"Hey, Mom what are you doing after we finished clearing dinner away?"
"Oh, I was planning of heading into the study and catch up on some reading why darling?"
I scratch the back of my head feeling nervous to ask this as I feel I'm disturbing her evening. "I was wondering if you would like to watch a movie with me and Jen tonight?"
"I would love to darling what movie is it?"
"It's The Lost Valentine. Have you heard of it or even seen it before?""I can't say I have but I would like to watch it with you two. Should we invite your father to join us and make it a family night?"
What! Inviting Dad to join us? Would he do that? I don't know what to say I am speechless for the first time since finding out that Candace cheated on me.
"I guess that sounds like fun, but I would like it if I sat next to you during the movie though Mom."
"Why the sudden interest Chase? I'm flattered that you want to, but this is unlike you." I take a deep breath and consider what I am about to say next knowing Jen will be grilling me later for details. Man for someone who likes to gossip I know who it comes from. My twin sister.
"There's this girl I've been talking to, and we were talking about our favorite movies, and she said that this one is hers, and it gave her a stronger connection to her mom."
"That's really sweet and she suggested you watch it with me, so you know what she is talking about I take it as you have never done anything like this before even when you were dating that horrible girl, Candace."
I shrug my shoulders at what my mom just said thinking that it could possibly be true. "Mom she's now in the past and one I don't really want to look back on anymore." I sit down on the couch next to Mom just as Jen walks in with a bowl of popcorn and surprisingly Dad walks in and joins us. Maybe Jen invited him to join us to make it a family movie night. Something I think we should do more often before Jen, and I head off to college. Lost in my own thoughts Jen breaks me from it when she starts to speak.
"Right, shall we get this movie started and see what it's all about." Dad chirps in when he puts his arm over Jen, and she snuggles into his side as she always has when we've watched movies together.
"We're ready whenever you are darling." He leans his hand over into the bowl and grabs a handful of popcorn just as I select to play the movie.

Nearly two hours later Jen had fallen asleep with her head resting on Dad's chest and Mom is holding my hand tightly. I look at her and see she is dabbing her eyes with a tissue. I start to get a little concerned, so I ask, "Mom, are you okay?"She wipes her nose and wipes under her eyes once more before looking at me, "Oh I'm fine honey, that was a beautiful movie. I can see why that girl recommended that movie to you. It is now probably one of my favorite movies."
I smile at her and squeeze her hand for reassurance. "Yeah, Mom I can see why she mentioned about watching it with you. That movie pretty much shows that no matter what, never take life for granted as it will be taken from you in a second."
I can see why Dream told me to watch it with my mom because now I know the bond a child has with their parents, especially their mother if they are playing both Mom and Dad. Now this movie gives me a greater respect for the families of our military. And it has given me an idea, but this is something I want to discuss with Dad when we're both at the office. I just need to make a business plan to see how it will escalate.
