"What are you doing here?" Jen asks her boyfriend.
Greg points to the group of guys behind him, "I'm with my cousins and their friends, they live out here. I came to fix their server, and we all went for a ride."
"But how did you know I was here? I came to a secluded part of the beach so I wouldn't be spotted."
"I recognized your car Sav, I didn't think it was you at first. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, but then I saw you climb out of your car looking distraught and in a world of your own, I called Jen to tell her where you are because I could tell something wasn't right. I guess I was right on the feeling but wrong on the reason why."
"What did you think was the reason why?" Chase stands up and confronts him. "Did you think I hurt my girl?"
"In all honesty yeah, I do. Sorry man but you don't have the best record right now. I don't know the whole story nor is it my place to know but that was my first assumption."
I stand up shaking my head at these two boys I could say and start walking back to my car. It's not until I get close to my car is when I see Jen running up behind me. I tell her I was just getting some money from the car to go and grab something to eat while Chase and Greg do what they sound like they are still doing. Jen comes with me and grabs a hot dog along the beach with me and we talk about her birthday party that's happening this week. I swear I think she's more excited about this party than Chase is. He's not brought it up to me once unlike Jen who has brought it up maybe five times a day if not more.
With our hot dogs in hand, we walk back to the rock where we left Greg and Chase having their discussion. If that's what you want to call it. When we get closer, we see that they have stopped talking and are looking for us. I look at both of them as we approach to see if there were any punches thrown and blood drawn, luckily enough it didn't get physical in our absence.
They both ask in unison, where we went, and I told them that I was hungry, so I went and grabbed a hot dog. "I didn't realize I needed permission from two behemoths to grab a bite to eat," I argue at them. "Look I'm tired, I've had probably one of the worst days of my life in years, I still have one problem to fix when I get home. Have you two finished fighting like little girls?"
"Damn Sav you've got some sassy spunk when you're pissed off, but I would like to apologize for my behavior, knowing you've had a shit few hours I shouldn't have brought more drama to your day."
"Thank you, Greg, I appreciate it, but there's no need to apologize to me. I should be apologizing to you."
Three voices ring out at once saying "Why?"
"I brought you away from your family for no reason, and for arguing with my knucklehead of a boyfriend thinking he was the one who did wrong when in matter of a fact he was defending me against my own father."
Chase walks over to me, embraces me in his arms, and places a soft, gentle kiss on my lips, "I would do it every day against anybody sweetheart. I love you."
"I love you too my big bad wolf," He smiles at the nickname I used and kisses me again, it's not until we hear a gagging sound from Jen commenting on our affection is it that we break apart and the four of us start laughing.
"Have I ever told you how much I love it when you call me wolf?"
"You haven't told me how much you do in a very long time."
"Start calling me it more often sweetheart and you'll hear it more."
"I'll take it under consideration," I smile at him, he returns his smile to me, and we share one more kiss.
"Gross," Jen says Chase and I laugh and stay wrapped up in each other's arms. I start to feel calmer and relaxed, ready to go home and talk to my dad about everything. I can't stay mad at him because soon enough he will be on his own when I head off to college.
