Chase P.O.V
Four years later
Well, it's been four amazing years in San Francisco. Savannah and I graduated college last week. I got a degree in Business and in Finance, where Savannah got one in English Literature and in Music. Where I double majored in college Savannah had a major in English but a minor in music. We both graduated with high honors. The world is now our oyster.
But before we can even think about anything to do with the world and how we wish to change it I am back at the office wanting to speak to Savannah's father. It is now time we had that discussion I said I planned to have with him back when we were seniors in high school. Fuck that feels like forever ago. I told her father on the night of the Christmasqurade ball that one day I will come to him to ask for his daughter's hand in marriage and today is that day.
I have arranged for a meeting with Mr. Blakemore to take place in the company's board room and I asked my dad to be present during this meeting. I plan for it just to be the three of us and nobody else. I aim to not leave that room until I have his blessing. The day before our graduation from college I went and bought the ring. I chose a silver band two carat emerald cut aquamarine diamond with one carat round cut diamond on either side. I hope she loves it just as much as I did when I saw it in the store. A Cinderella ring for my Cinderella.
Walking into the boardroom I see my dad talking to Mr. Blakemore who is already sat at the table prepared to start this meeting. When I entered, I heard my dad asking him how Hazel was and how little Grayson is doing in preschool. Yeah, a lot has happened in the last four years. Mr. Blakemore married his then girlfriend Hazel in a small ceremony in my parents' backyard and they had a son the following year.
"They are both amazing Stuart. Hazel is an amazing mother, and Grayson is just so full of life I have forgotten how tiring they are at that age. I do see Savannah in him a lot I can't wait until she's home again I have missed her so much these last four years when she was away at college."
"Well, I hope I can make that happen for you Mr. Blakemore," Both men stood up and came to give me a hug and tell me how good it is to see me again. "You both saw me last week remember? College graduation?" They couldn't possibly have forgotten already, could they? I know they are getting older but surely not at retirement age just yet. Knowing my dad he's still got a good few years in him to work here at the business before I take over.
Getting down to business I tell both Mr. Blakemore and my dad about the house where we had our Christmasqurade ball at and the fact that it went up on the market a couple of months ago. I told them I put in an offer, and it has been accepted. I signed off on the house an hour ago before coming here. The house where I found my dream girl, the one where I told my one that I am in love with her is now ours and she doesn't know it yet. Both of them seem so thrilled to hear that we will be moving back to Santa Monica, and we have secured a house. I think Mr. Blakemore is excited just to have his baby girl back in the same city as him.
These last four years have been hard for both of them but now I can make it easier for Savannah to see her dad and her baby brother. Build a bond with him, and maybe one day further down the road start a family of our own. I tell Mr. Blakemore that tomorrow I plan on proposing to Savannah in the house with the band that played there at the winter formal, singing the song they played during our first dance. It was then when I asked for his permission to marry his daughter.
"Chase, Savannah means the absolute world to me, that girl is my reason for living besides Grayson of course. She is and will always be my baby girl. If it is you who has made her happy and kept that smile on her face for the last four years while you both were away at college, then I only can give you one answer son," He stands up and walks over to me and offers me his hand. "Welcome to the family Chase, I would be honored to have you as my son-in-law," We shake hands and then he brings me in for a hug. It was then when Dad gives me his own congratulations and asks if I have a ring yet. I pull it out from my inside jacket pocket and show these men the ring.
Dad is impressed with it and my future father-in-law tells me that ring has Savannah written all over it, she will love it, and it will be impossible to say no. I am so happy to have the support of these two men and they both want to help and be there for the proposal tomorrow. So, the three of us stay in that boardroom for a little while longer and go through the plan and how it will turn out.
The next day in my car with Savannah sat next to me we drive up to the house and my palms are starting to sweat. I have not felt this nervous since ... Fuck since the senior school concert. Where I sang in front of a huge crowd of people with her. Since that night I have not sang in front of a crowd that large. Karaoke nights here and there of course why not that's part of the fun. But since then, never and I might as well say I am more nervous today than I was back then. The house comes into view, and I hear Savannah gasp as she looks at me and all I can do is smile. She asks me what are we doing here so I say the only thing I can, "It's a surprise."
Pulling into the driveway I park outside the house; we climb out I walk round to her side of the car and take her hand as I lead her to the ballroom. She seems more confused than ever when I lead her to the room, and she sees balloons and steamers and hears the soft hum of music.
"Chase, I don't think we should be here. I think there's a party going on in the ballroom," She tries to pull my arm back to stop me from going any further.
"Sweetheart, do you trust me?" she looks up at me with them beautiful green eyes of hers I can never get enough of and nods her head. "Then trust me and follow me into the ballroom." Savannah does as I ask and when the doors to the ballroom open another gasp escapes from her mouth.
The band starts to play 'This Christmas Night' as I take her hand and lead her into the middle of the room. She asks me what's going on, as she looks around to see that I got the ballroom decorated just like it was for the Christmasqurade ball I lower myself down onto one knee and pull the ring box out of my pocket. When Savannah realizes what it is I am doing she gasps one more time but then I can see tears in her eyes start to form. I better ask her quick before she can't see clearly beyond the tears. It's now or never Lockwood.
"Savannah, I love you more than anything in this entire world. We have made many memories in the last five years you have been in my life some not so good and others are the best ever. But to me our memories and our story started right here in this room with this song, and I want to make one more memory with you right here in the same room to the same song," I lift the lid to the ring box to show her the ring I want to so desperately place on her finger right now. "Will you do me the honor and spend the rest of your life with me? Savannah Jaymes Blakemore, will you marry me?"
Through the tears that are slowly coming down her face she nods her head and says the one word that will change my life for the better, "Yes." I smile up at her, taking her hand and the ring out of the box and I slip the ring onto her delicate finger. It fits perfectly and it looks more beautiful on her hand than I could ever think of. I stand up and kiss her just as our entire families and friends come out from behind the stage cheering and clapping at us. All the women rush over to Savannah and hug her and begs to see the ring just as all the men come and shakes my hand and pats my arm in congratulations and everyone switches the women comes and hugs me just as the men all hug my now fiancée.
With everyone here I might as well tell Savannah the other huge surprise I have for her. "Savannah, that we have everyone here there is one more surprise I have for you." She walks back over to me and stands in front of me, she asks me what the other surprise is, and it is then when I dig into my back pocket to pull out a set of keys. "Welcome home sweetheart."
She leaps into my arms squealing in total surprise wrapping her legs around my waist. I hold onto her tightly as I spin her around in a circle and place another kiss on her lips and place the keys in her hand when I lower her back to the ground. I can't wait to start making more memories with this woman by my side for the rest of our lives. This is where our story started, and it will also be where Cinderella and Prince Charming have their happily ever after.
