Savannah P.O.V
As soon as I got home, I rushed upstairs to get out of my dress, clear the makeup off my face, and got changed into something more comfortable. Don't get me wrong tonight has been one of the best nights of my life and one of the best birthdays I have ever celebrated. But why is it when something good goes my way Candace is there to ruin it for me. I have dealt with girls like her in the past, but she is on another level.Sitting on the bed I pick up my guitar and start to play one of my mom's old favorite songs 'Stand By Your Man' by Tammy Wynette. When I start playing the intro to the song there is a gentle knock on my door. "Come on in Dad," I continue to play the music as my dad comes into my room.
"Hey baby girl Chase is downstairs, and he would like to have a word with you." He stands in the doorway watching me sitting on the bed.
"I don't want to talk to him, Dad. He's done enough talking tonight already," I look up at my dad so he can see how distraught I am about Chase being here.
"Savannah honey, Chase told me everything that happened." Wow, so he does have a death wish or the balls to face my father.
"Oh, so he told you that he left the dance to go and meet up with his ex-girlfriend. Oh no wait sorry he left to get back with his girlfriend, while I'm on stage singing and when I find him once I get off stage he's standing there and he's kissing her. He told you that?"
He's stood there rubbing the back of his head looking a little uncomfortable with what I have just said. "Well, umm... he told me that he left to go and remove her from the dance before you knew he was gone, and it was her who kissed him."
"That's all bullshit, Dad." He stands there and raises his eyebrows at me because this is probably the first time, I have ever cussed in front of him and at him. "Sorry I know you and Mom taught me better, but you also taught me never to keep my emotions bottled up especially anger as there is no use for it being kept to myself because it could mess with my head and dictate my future."
"We did teach you that baby girl, but we also taught you to talk and amend your discretions as life is too short, you don't want to leave this world with regrets."
"I understand that Dad, but I don't want to, not right now at least."
He sighs and looks a little disappointed with me "Okay sweetpea I will tell him you don't want to talk just yet. But promise me that you will, he looks so distraught over what happened."
Good let him feel the betrayal I felt when I saw him kissing that bitch who is trying to ruin my life. "I will Dad just not now." I get up off my bed holding the guitar in my hand "I love you Dad, but I just need some time to myself to deflect I'm gonna sit on the balcony for a while and get lost in my music."
"Alright baby girl I will tell him to go and wait for you to reach out to him when you are ready." He walks up to me and gives me a gentle squeeze and kisses the top of my head. "I love you too baby girl and let the boy explain. It took a lot of balls for him to come and face me, when I saw you come home looking upset, he's lucky I didn't pull my shotgun on him for hurting my little girl."
We both laugh at that. It's wishful thinking on his behalf but he wouldn't do that to his boss and jeopardize his career. He turns around and leaves just as I open the door to my balcony. "Think about it sweetpea okay no man is perfect, I should know I made my fair share of mistakes with your mom." Nodding with what he said I know no man is perfect but every girl dreams of their white knight to be their prince charming, and with that, he leaves me to my thoughts and music.
