Man, I hate waking up feeling more tired than when I first go to bed. After a delicious dinner and our daily chat with Dad, I did a little bit of studying and some designing for the ball and called it a night. But what a night it was. I couldn't sleep for the first time since I moved to California all I did at night was toss and turn. I have a feeling I know what caused it. Wolf.I hope he's not had as bad of a night's sleep as I did. Plus, I also hope he managed to watch that movie last night too. I'm looking forward to hear what he has to say about it.
Arriving at school I sit on the steps outside the main entrance building going over some of the plans for the winter formal whilst I'm waiting for the girls to turn up. I sat on the steps for maybe ten minutes before I heard Jen approach. I look up to see her and Chase walking and talking together before Chase heads in a separate direction. Before he parted from his sister, he looked in my direction, smiled at me, and gave me one of them head nods guys do as Jen carried on walking toward me.
"Morning Jen, how was your evening?" Jen sits on the step next to me lifting her sunglasses off her face and sighing.
"Morning Sav, I had an interesting night a family movie night something we've not done since I was like twelve but never mind that. How was your evening?" Before I could answer her Selena comes charging towards us like she's on a mission of some sort.
"Girls we have got to go dress shopping for the ball after school today." Well, I was not expecting to hear something like that this early in the morning especially when shopping is not really my thing.
"Dress shopping! Really? Why this early the ball isn't for another four weeks."
"That's the exact reason why we must go today because it's four weeks away."
"Why didn't I think of that. Good thinking Selena, it's a good job it's Friday and think about it, we can't go dress shopping at the weekend we're all working up until the ball." Shit why didn't I think of that. They are both right it has to be today after school. But at least it gives me all of today to think of what style, silhouette, and color I want for my dress. Just need to get clearance from Dad first to use the emergency credit card to purchase it and I will pay him back as soon as I can.
"We will meet at lunch and make a plan of action. What stores to go to, shoes, accessories, and masks, as well as anything else we can think of." I suggest as I don't know where the best stores are for this sort of event here in California.
"Jen where do you plan on going dress shopping?" Both Jen and Selena look at each other with a smile on their faces like their planning something as if they both knew where we we're going.
As if on cue they both turned their heads towards me still smiling and say the one place I never thought they would say "Rodeo Drive."
I'm in total shock. Rodeo Drive! Seriously! "Can we afford it?"
"Sav, you know my mom owns a boutique store, don't you?"
"Yeah, that was one of the things you told me when we we're partnered for our History project."
"Exactly that. Where do you think her boutique is?"
"Your mom has a boutique on Rodeo Drive?" I'm in utter disbelief.
"One of the best, trust me we can afford it I'll text my mom and tell her that we are coming after school. She will be thrilled to help us pick out our dresses."
"I'm there Jen I love your mom's boutique."
"Great. So, what do you say Sav? Will you come dress shopping with us?"
"Why not I'm in."
Jen smiles excitedly and claps her hands, "Perfect we'll meet back here after school, and we'll go straight there."
Seems like I'm going dress shopping today with my friends after school. I better text Dad before first period and see if it's okay if I use the emergency credit card.
Savannah: Hi Dad, sorry to disturb you at the office this early in the morning I know how busy you are. After school today me and the girls are going dress shopping at Mrs. Lockwood's boutique. Is it okay if I use the emergency credit card to purchase a dress and pay you back with my next paycheck?
Dad: Oh, baby girl you did not disturb me at all. You caught me just before I arrived at my desk. I'm so happy to hear that you will be going shopping with your friends after school today and to be going to Mrs. Lockwood's boutique I'm thrilled to hear it. Don't worry about paying me back consider this purchase a gift from your mom. You know she would have loved to have gone with you to choose your winter formal and prom dress.
I feel my eyes start to well up as I reread that text from Dad again. He is right Mom would have loved to have gone dress shopping with me for them two dresses in particular. Thinking about my mom I know what color dress I will be going for.
Savannah: Thank you, Daddy. I'll get Jen to take a picture of my dress so you can see if you like it or not. I love you have a good day at the office, and I will see you when you get home.
Dad: I love you too baby girl. Have fun with your friends, have a good day in school and I'll see you when I'm home Toni is cooking her famous meatloaf tonight.
