"Hey Chase, thanks for picking me up from the airport. I enjoyed our chat in the car."

"Me too Savannah, Me too." And just like the first day we met Chase walked around a corner and out of my sight.

Knocking on Dad's office door and wait to hear him call through the frosted glass door.

"Come on in sweetpea." I open the door and step into Dad's huge open-space office shutting the door behind me. Dad stands up from behind his desk, walks around it, and opens his arms for me. I walk up to my dad, wrapping my arms around him, and hug him.

"How was your trip?" Dad releases me from the hug and offers me a chair to sit on so we could talk.

"It was great Dad. I loved being back home I have missed it there. But I missed it here."

"What do you mean sweetpea?"

"Yes North Carolina is home but without you there it didn't feel like home. I saw Mom whilst I was there, and it made me think... you are all the family I have left, and I can't be too far away from you. Something Jen and Chase has taught me since we moved here is that family is everything. No matter how life turns out they will always have your back. And I will be there for you Dad. That's why I will do everything in my power to get this music scholarship to Berkeley, so I am closer to you when you need me."

"Oh, sweetpea you don't have to do that for me. I feel honored that you would but Savannah you can't base your future around me, you must base it round yourself. I can't live your future for you. Trust me I've been there, done that and I do not regret a thing. 'Cause if I did, I wouldn't be sitting here a proud father of his baby girl." He holds out his hand to me and I take it.

"Thanks, Dad. That means a lot to me." I smile at dad squeezing onto his hand and I wipe a tear from my cheek with my free hand.

"So, tell me. How did the party go? Did the girls behave themselves?" I roll my eyes at all his questions.

"The party was great my setlist was a huge hit with everyone, yes, the girls behaved I was the designated driver just in case they had too much fun, no none of us drank I just wanted to drive so I knew we would be home at a decent enough time for my flight back, and yes, no funny business happened. Brianna stayed at the Maddoc Ranch that night. I don't know what they did but I am not them. I promise you nothing happened with me."

"Savannah sweetheart. I trust you. You're old enough to make your own choices and your own mistakes. I just don't trust them, boys, back there, you know how handsy they can get."

"Thank you for trusting me, Dad. Plus, the only people I went to see were the girls. Kyle tried to make a pass at me at the party, but I turned him down and walked away."

"A guy hit on you?" I hear a voice from behind me, I turn around to see Chase standing in the doorway listening in on my conversation with my dad.

I feel so embarrassed and really pissed off with Chase eavesdropping on my private conversation. I stand up, throwing my bag over my shoulder, I walk over to Dad and kiss him on the cheek. "I'll talk to you later Dad I'm gonna walk home, it's obvious I'm just a distraction around here."

"Okay, sweetpea we'll talk more when I get home." I turn around and leave his office and storm towards the elevator not giving a care in the world who's in front of me or who stops me. I call for the elevator when I hear two voices call out behind me.

"Savannah! Stop! Please wait!"

"Chase, son give her some time to cool off. She feels hurt, let her get her head around what's just happened."

Trust my dad to hold him back. He knows how closed off I get when I feel embarrassed and need to be left alone. The elevator dings then the doors open, and I step inside. I dial Jen's number when the door closes seeing Chase in the distance looking at me and I put the phone to my ear. As Jen answers I only say one thing to her. "Hey Jen, I'm back, I'm on my way to the beach right now oh, and before I forget your brother is an asshole." Then I hang up on her as the elevator descends onto the busy streets of Santa Monica.
