"Is that how you feel? That you are ruining this promotion for me?"
"I didn't at first but since I have thought about what has happened today, I fear that all your hard work is going to be for nothing 'cause I can't control my emotions." He stands up from his desk and walks around to stand in front of me as he embraces me in his arms. I can't do anything but wrap my arms around him and sob into his chest.
"Sweetpea it's okay. You did not ruin anything for me. Only I can ruin this for us. I can only ruin it if I lose the company money or lose their biggest clients. As you know how I am with numbers we both know that won't happen," He rubs my back calming me down just like how he used to when I was a little girl. When I'm all cried out Dad kisses the top of my head and just holds me for a little while.
"Hey, Dad!"
"Yes, sweetpea?"
"I've been thinking about something since dinner, and I would like to know what you think."
"Okay, what is it you've been thinking about?"
"Well, we both know that I need to apologize to Chase."
"Yeah."
"When do you think I should apologize? As I now need to apologize to Mr. Lockwood too. Should I wait until tomorrow and do it personally or call to apologize?"
"Why don't you do both?"
"How?"
"Drive over to the Lockwoods house and do it personally today." Now I feel even more stupid as to why didn't I think of that. Trust my dad to think of the simpler option.
After freshening up in the shower, something I should have done when I first got home, I changed into a pair of yoga pants and a sweater, tying my hair back in a low ponytail, I head for my car heating Dad's advice.
I felt anxious on the drive over to the Lockwoods not knowing what to say. I do know that I need to speak to Mr. Lockwood first. Pulling into the driveway of their house, I park outside their house and climb up the porch steps twiddling my fingers before I ring the doorbell. To my surprise, Mr. Lockwood answers to door.
"Savannah!"
"Hello, Mr. Lockwood."
"Are you here to see Jen?"
"No sir, I'm here to speak to you if I may?"
"Yes of course come on in," he opens the door for me to welcome me in. "Come to my office we can talk there." I follow Mr. Lockwood down the hall towards his office. Once we reach his office, he ushers me inside as he walks round his desk to take a seat, he offers me the chair in front of his desk.
"What is it you would like to discuss with me, my dear?"
"Well, umm... I came here to apologize for my stunt and behavior at your office today. I shouldn't have acted the way I did, and I sincerely hope that my actions today do not jeopardize my father's work or the promotion he's worked so hard to get. I also came to defend that Chase did nothing wrong, everything that happened was on me and nobody else."
"Well, my dear I admire you coming all this way to apologize to me, and I hope you are here to do the same to Chase too."
"Yes, sir I am," I nod.
"I'm happy to hear that and now about what you said about your father my dear. Whatever happened today your father's job position is secure. We all know how hard your father has worked and we are honored to have him here with us. We are as happy that you are here with us too my dear."
"Thank you, sir, I'm happy to hear this and with what you have just said has clarified what my dad has not long told me."
"You should listen to him my dear as I guarantee you his work ethic alone is enough to keep him in his position for a long time. He works just as hard as I do, and you have not jeopardized anything on your father's behalf, but you may have jeopardized your friendship with my son."
