The rest of the evening went too quickly for my liking. We all had some fun and games playing Charades, Pictionary, Tapple, Uno, and this new one called Do You Really Know Your Family? Them games were a great laugh especially Dad trying to draw Cookie Monster. Jen was rolling over the floor in laughter on the brink of tears, it was that hilarious.
I want to try and have a little alone time with Savannah tonight before her and her father leaves for the evening. So, I do what any desperate guy would do. Steal it. I take hold of Savannah's hand and lead her outside to my backyard and take a seat on one of the loungers by the pool.
"Have you enjoyed your Christmas?" Savannah asks me.
I take hold of her hands and look at her, "I've had the best Christmas I could have ever asked for sweetheart. That's because you have spent the day with me and my family. You being here is the best present my mom could have ever given me."
I lean forward and place a soft, gentle kiss on her lips, and hold her close to me. "I love you Savannah," I tell her.
"I love you too Chase," She sighs resting her head on my shoulder and looking up into the night sky. "So, about our bet have you thought about what your winnings will be yet?" She asks. Oh, I have been waiting for her to bring this up I have thought long and hard about this and I finally decided what it is I won.
"I have thought long and hard about this sweetheart and I have come up with the perfect prize. Tomorrow night I am taking you to a special location and we will have a picnic under the stars and a view you would love. Do you think you could get away for a couple of hours tomorrow night?"
"I'm sure I could yeah, but I gotta ask my dad first." Oh, little does she know I've already asked her dad if I could take her out tomorrow night and I told him where I was taking her, and he seems very ecstatic about this date I have planned.
"Of course, yeah, I wouldn't expect any less as I know how close you and your dad are as you are all each other have."
"Until you and your family came into our lives, and we feel like our family have expended," she tells me. "And we couldn't be any happier, I haven't seen my dad smile as much as he has since we moved to California in years, and I think that's because of your father has given him a new meaning of life."
"Yeah, my folks are pretty great, but do you think your dad won't mind me taking you out for an evening date?"
"I'm confident he will be fine with it as it's not all night and you said it was for a couple of hours it will be fine." She looks at me and smiles, "Care to tell me what tomorrow night's date dress code is?"
"Dress warm and comfortable, it could get a little chilly with where we are going," I tell her, and she nods. "Trust me, sweetheart, you will enjoy this date."
"I trust you with my life," she smiles at me and I return her smile and we stay sat on the lounger for a while just embracing in the night sky and just being in each other's arms.
