"Did anyone see you hide the photo?"

"No," Freida shook her head. "I was alone in the library."

"We have to find that photo."

Kyle was desperate to get his hands on that photo but they had another problem on their hands.

"Have your friends ever go such a long period of time without contacting you?"

"It's not like them not to call."

"I need you to write down their addresses?" Harold told Freida.

She wrote down the addresses on a piece of paper.

"Henry is single but has a daughter who lives with him." She handed him the paper. "She's away on a business trip. Carl lives alone."

"You can't stay here anymore. It's not safe." Harold told her.

"I know."

Even though she seem to agree, Kyle could hear a tinge of sadness in her voice.

"You don't want to leave, do you?"

"I've been here for a few years and have no living relatives."

Kyle understood her plight but she couldn't stay here.

"I have a plan."

"What kind of plan?"

"First, we need to leave this place without anyone seeing us."

"There's an old passageway in the basement. It's sealed off because no one uses it."

"Where does it lead to?"

"It leads to the greenhouse out back."

"Pack a bag. We're going to use that as our exit."

"What about the new guy?"

"We can't arrest him without a reason."

Kyle laid out his plans to Harold while Freida packed her clothes into a suitcase. He took the suitcase from her hands.

He went to the door and opened it a crack so he could peer out the room.

Seeing the hallway clear, he motioned to Harold. "It's clear."

"You take the lead. I'll follow at the back."

The trio left the room and made their way to the basement. Kyle opened the door and allowed Freida to enter first. Harold closed the door behind them, and the darkness instantly swallowed them.

"The switch is on your left." She told them.

"No light."

Kyle pulled a mini flashlight from his pocket and aimed it around the room. The basement was considerably larger but looked more like a dungeon. It was unpleasantly damp and cold.

The light landed on the sealed door a few feet from where they were standing.

Kyle strode across the basement floor towards the door. He placed the suitcase on the floor to free his other hand. He traced the door with the beam of light and it landed on a latch with an old rusted lock.

He shone the light around to search for something to hit against the lock.

There was a metal bar leaning against an old shelf. Kyle picked up the metal in bar and went back to the door. Knowing he would have to be fast as possible, he wasted no time banging the lock.

Every time the metal bar banged against the lock, the sound echoed loudly throughout the room.

The lock finally gave out and Kyle quickly removed it ftom the latch.
