Aaron checked the woman's pulse for the third time. It was still weak and thready.

"Alright, everyone get to class."

Aaron stood up when he heard the Dean's voice. He still needed to act like a college student but there was no way he could overlook this. He looked around as the students were ushered away from the scene.

When they were alone Kaia turned to the Security Guard.

"The ambulance is on the way. Can you guide them over here?"

"If we stay out here too long, the students are going to start speculate about us being here at the scene."

"Sure." The security guard left to wait at the entrance of the property.

"Call Detective Finn. Tell him we have a situation here." Aaron told the Dean.

The Dean nodded his head then looked down at the woman on the ground. "Who is she?"

"She was the waitress at the diner where I work." Logan answered the question with a somber tone.

The Dean looked at him, pity in his expression.

"He's getting closer." Aaron turned to Logan and put a hand on his back.

Sirens sounded in the distance, therefore they left for their classes.

"Why didn't he kill her?" Logan asked as they walked up the steps.

"I don't know. Maybe to taunt you into feeling scared." Aaron told him honestly.

"Well, it's working." Logan glanced out at where the woman was lying on the ground.

"Don't be sorry. It's not your fault."

Aaron understood his feelings and tried to reassure him. It won't help blaming himself for something that is out of his control. Dirk was the one killing people close to him.

"Do you think she going to make it?"

Aaron didn't answer because he couldn't tell him what he wanted to hear. His phone pinged signaling an incoming message. He took his from his pocket to read the message.

"What is it?" Kaia asked when he suddenly stopped walking.

Aaron looked at her, "It's a message from Kyle."

He saw Logan tensed up at the name.

Was he still jealous?

"What did he want?"

"I promised to meet him later." Aaron walked off before she could ask anymore questions.

When they entered the room, Aaron took his usual seat near to the door. A shadow fell over the desk, making him look up to see Logan standing in front of him. Logan walked around the desk and sat down without a word.

Aaron stared at him surprised that he had decided to sit next to him again. Although he had heard every word Logan said last night, he was still wary.

At the end of his last class with Logan, Aaron sent Kyle a message to let him know that he will meet him later. He noticed Logan kept glancing at him but he never said anything.

Aaron turned his head to look at him.

"What is it?"

"What are we going to tell Barbara?"

"She's going to find out from the police. I can't let anyone else know about me."

He waited for the last student to leave then picked up his bag from the floor then stood up.

"Do you think I should still work at the diner?"

"Yes, I do. Even if you quit, he'll still hurt anyone that he feels deserve it."

"It's like a cat and mouse game to him."

Aaron pulled the keys from his pocket as they neared the exit. "It's a game that he will lose."

Kaia as usual was waiting by the door. She gave him a smile which he returned.

"I sent you an email about that thing you needed."

"Thanks."

"No problem. I'll be tagging along with you." She told him.

They piled into their separate vehicles and drove straight to the diner. He parked the jeep but didn't get out.

Leaning forward, he braced his arms on the steering wheel, looking out at the diner and the people entering in and out. He could never be sure which one of them was working for Dirk.

  Spying on them.

The woman was still missing, they had no location on Dirk and Phil. He would have to check the USB drive again to see if they missed anything.

Dealing with all these things at once was draining.

"Aaron, don't you want to go inside?"

He angled his head to look at Logan, who was watching him with furrowed eyebrows. Aaron scanned Logan's face as though he was searching for something. But he didn't know what anymore.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure, anything?"

"Did you mean what you said last night? Or were you just talking to make yourself feel better."

"You heard?"

"Did you mean it?"

"I meant it. Every word." Logan grasped his hand tightly. "Give me a chance to make it up to you."

Logan jumped slightly when there was a knock on the driver's side window. Aaron rolled down the window.

"What is it?"

"What's taking you so long?"

"We were just talking." Aaron opened the door and stepped out of the vehicle. He bent inside to grab his bag from the backseat when Kaia bumped into his back. He bit his lip hard to keep in a pained groan.

"Kaia, why can't you be more careful?" Logan rebuked.

"Sorry, I slipped."

Aaron cleared his throat then turned to her. "It's not a problem."

"Aaron, come on. You should order something from the diner." Logan took his hand, tugging him to the door. "Do you have your medication?"

"Yeah, it's in my bag. I'll take it later."

Logan waited until he sat down on the stool before going to the back.

He guessed Logan meant his words to him.

Kaia sat down at a table by the window, leaving him alone at the counter.
