Logan dialed Aaron's number and waited with bated breath for him to answer.

"Logan...I can't talk right now."

"Aaron, where are you? Why do you sound out of breath?"

"I'm at my other apartment."

Logan heard loud popping noise in the background. "Are those gunshots?" He asked, voice laced with panic.

"Logan...I have to go." The dialed tone blared in his ear.

Logan quickly dialed Kyle's number.

"Kyle, he's at his other apartment."

"Did he tell you anything?"

"No...but I heard gunshots while I was talking to him."

"I'm on my way there. I'll call you when he's with me."

"Be safe...both of you." Logan pleaded before ending the call. He looked over at his family sitting on the couch.

"What's going on?" Emma asked.

"I don't know yet."

"Why did Aaron leave without telling anyone?"

"I don't know." Logan leaned his head back on the couch and closed his eyes. "He seemed a bit distracted earlier, but I thought he was just tired."

A knock at the door interrupted their conversation. Logan's eyes sprung open and he turned his head to the door. Another knock sounded before he got up to answer the door.

Logan peered through the peephole and saw Aaron's mother on the other side. He opened the door, allowing her to enter the apartment.

"I've sent a few of my men over to Aaron's other apartment."

"How did you know he was there?"

"The receptionist that works in that building knows me." Pamela told them.

"I think Aaron might be in trouble."

"Don't worry. Nothing will happen to him."

The tires squealed as Kyle pulled to a stop in front of the apartment building.

He jumped out the vehicle and dashed up the steps. He ran through the doors to the elevator, ignoring the stares aimed his way.

The elevator doors opened and he quickly piled inside and pressed the button to Aaron's floor. It seemed to take forever before the ding sounded.

When it opened, he ran down the hallway but stopped when he reached the corner. He peered down the hallway but it was empty.

Kyle listened for any noise but it was quiet. He cautiously made his way down the hallway until he spotted Aaron's apartment door. The door stood open but no one exited the room.

Maybe Logan had heard wrong.

A loud crash drew his attention and Aaron pulled out his gun. He braced his back to the wall and leaned forward to look inside. There was a guy standing in the room, gun in his hand.

Kyle glanced around the room but Aaron was nowhere in sight. The guy was still standing there, not moving. Kyle tiptoed quietly towards him and raised his gun, bringing it down on the back of the guy's head.

The body dropped to the floor and he dragged the body behind the couch. He closed the door then ambled over to the bedroom door.

He crouched down and tapped on the door with his fist. He expected to hear footsteps or voices coming towards the door but nothing happened. He grabbed the handle and the door swung inward revealing an empty room.

Kyle spun on his heels and headed to the kitchen. The kitchen was empty as well. He pulled out his phone and dialed Logan's number.

"Did you find him?"

"He's not here."

"What do you mean?"

"There's no one at the apartment."

"Are you sure? He told me he was at his other apartment."

Kyle frowned as he looked around the apartment. Did Aaron had another apartment?

"Kyle... Kyle..."

"I'm here."

"I'm putting you on speaker."

"Kyle, he's at his first apartment."

Shit! He had totally forgotten about that.

"I'm going over there right now."

"My men might have already reached there "

"It doesn't matter."

"I know...I know."

Kyle ended the call then called security up to the room. After filling them on the situation, he left the apartment building. He broke the speed limit, wasting no time getting there. When he pulled to a stop, people were exiting the building in a rush.

Kyle jumped from his vehicle and sprinted up the steps. He saw the receptionist at her desk, talking on the phone. He ran over to her and showed his badge.

"What's going on here?"

"Residents heard gunshots coming from an apartment."

"What floor?"

"The ninth floor. I've already called the police."

Kyle took off the elevator. He pressed the button for the ninth floor and waited with his gun ready.

Gunshots rang out the minute the elevator doors opened. He slipped out the elevator and ran down the hallway. He followed the sound until he came to a corner. He peeked around the corner and saw two bodies on the floor.

His eyes scanned his surroundings to make sure it was clear before walking over to the bodies.

They weren't anyone he recognized.

He searched their pockets for extra weapons or I.D but came up empty-handed. Shouts rang out then more gunshots. Why were they shooting in a place filled with people lived?

Kyle continued his way down the hallway. His footsteps came to a halt when he spotted one of Pamela's men. He whistled to get his attention. When the signal was returned, Kyle walked over to him.

"Where's Aaron?"

"He's not inside. We managed to scope the place before these guys started shooting at us."

"I need to find Aaron."

"I think he used the fire escape."
