Fatal Obsession

Chapter 162

Ryan walked down the stairs to find Theo in the living-room. He was sitting on the couch, eyes staring at the television.

"I thought you'd be asleep."

Theo turned to look at him. "How is Aaron doing?"

"He's still unconscious."

Theo nodded his head, "I want to see him but I know it's not possible right now."

Ryan stared at him, "Why do you want to see my brother?"

"I know you might not believe me but I actually care about Aaron."

"I don't know if I believe you at the moment but for some reason Aaron trusts you."

"I feel guilty for hurting him."

"Do you think it was your brother that sent those men?"

Theo quickly shook his head in denial. "My brother didn't do this. He wouldn't send anyone to hurt Aaron."

"Really?"

"Justin would never hurt Aaron. He only wanted to test him." Theo assured him.

"Why did he kidnapped him?"

"It was because of a contract that Aaron's biological father wrote up."

This was the first time Ryan was hearing about a contract. He wondered if his parents knew about it.

"What kind of contract?"

"Apparently, the contract was made for Justin's father but because he was killed it was passed on to the next male relative."

"Aaron was a minor. Why did he thought this contract was still valid?"

"So, this contract states that no matter how many years has passed, it's still binding."

"What can we do to get rid of this contract?"

"Only Justin can proclaim the contract null and void."

"We need to get rid of that contract."

"Justin kept it under tight wraps. I've only seen it once by accident. I don't know where he kept the contract."

Ryan couldn't do anything about it at the moment because he was protecting Theo. He still didn't trust Theo because he was related to people that had made his brother suffer. He had helped his brother kidnapped Aaron.

"Why did you helped your brother kidnapped Aaron?"

"Truthfully, I guess because I wanted his approval."

Ryan folded his arms across his chest while staring at him. "Why would you need his approval?"

"I'm not his biological brother. His father adopted me into their family."

Ryan was surprised. He hadn't expected Theo to be adopted.

"When I was first adopted, I didn't know about George's true nature. I only learned about it when I got a bit older. I wasn't aware of his crimes until I heard about it."

"What happened after he was arrested?"

"Justin helped raised me but Stephen didn't..."

"Stephen...? Did George had another child?"

"Justin and Stephen are twins."

Twins...

"Was this public knowledge? I don't remember hearing anything about twin boys."

"He hid Stephen's identity from the public. The only person that knew he had twin boys was Arthur Burton."

"How did they know about Aaron?"

"Arthur had George bring the boys over to play with Aaron."

"Play with him?" Ryan asked.

"Yeah, he invited them to be playmates for Aaron. But not in a good way. Justin told me that they developed an obsession with Aaron."

"What do you mean?"

"He told me that they shared Aaron with each other. But Stephen obsession became unhealthy. He tried everything to get Aaron alone but Justin made it impossible."

"He was protecting Aaron?"

"Justin told me that he found out what his dad was doing to Aaron and that he was actually happy that he died."

"I don't understand."

"Justin wasn't as heartless as Stephen. He actually cared about Aaron in his own way. After George died, Stephen suddenly disappeared without a word."

"Did anyone tried to find him?"

"Justin searched for him for three years but it was futile. I think it was better for us."

Ryan locked eyes with Theo. "Do you think Stephen would resurface with the intention of taking Aaron?"

"Yes, I do. He's be in the dark for years. No one knows what he's actually capable of."

"Can you get in contact with Justin?"

Theo's eyes almost bugged out his head. "What? Are you serious?"

Ryan couldn't blame him but they would need the lesser of two evils to be on their side.

"I'm dead serious. Look, I'm not saying that I'm going to forget what he did to my brother. But I'm going to pretend for now."

"I...I don't think Justin is going to be happy to see me."

Ryan scooted closer and took a hold of one of Theo's hand. It was an unconscious reaction because he had no idea why he did it.

"You don't need to worry about Justin. I'm going to be here with you."

Silence stretched as Theo looked down at their joined hands, but Ryan didn't let go.

"Will you do it?"

Theo's eyes trailed up to his face, a lopsided smile on his mouth. "I'm already deep in this. Of course I'll help Aaron."

"Thanks," Ryan squeezed his hand and gave him a reassuring smile.

"I'm going to take a shower." Theo pulled his hand from his and stood up. "I know you're only being nice to me because of Aaron."

Ryan didn't correct him. He just watched him walk away. Even though he was skeptical about trusting Theo, he would protect him.
